Barcelona, Spain - A scandal upsetting the Jewish world has emerged from Spain where an archaeological dig in Barcelona has unearthed the bones of Jews for research purposes, in a previously undiscovered century old Jewish cemetery. Other cemeteries (some as old as 700 years) have also been desecrated in the name of research near Cordoba, Luciana and Traga.
Findings of the Rabbinical experts in Barcelona were passed on to all channels of government officials and members of the European Union, demanding immediate termination of the digging project and the retrieval and return of the bones to their rightful place of rest.
The leaders of the Jewish community of Barcelona have been kept updated with the situation, and have expressed their great concern and disappointment at the present state of affairs. Their only hope is that pressure from Israel and the Jewish organizations across Europe will affect the relevant authorities and bring the digging project to an end. [die jüdische]
