It's not safe for a woman to travel alone! We may not suffer a lot from it in the USA but kidnapping women and selling them as prostitutes is very big business all over the world. It happens in the US too. But it is more prevalent in other countries. The kidnappers see a lonely woman traveling by herself in a foreign country and it becomes so easy to kidnap her. Hold her for ransom, turn her into a prostitute, or rape and kill her.
Traveling to Turkey is a bad idea for a lonely woman. So is going to almost every other country alone. I would only get on an airplane and go somewhere if I have a host family that will pick me up from the airport straight to their home. That's it. But to travel alone, be seen alone, get on taxis and to a hotel alone is an invitation for perverted men and their slavery rings.
