Yair Lapid wins elections next time around
« on: March 08, 2013, 08:54:01 AM »
Accoring to the recent poll posting on Arutz Sheva Yesh Atid (There is a Future) a extreme leftist party headed by a former TV show host would win elections if Pipi is unable to form a colalition govt of 61 members. What are you thoughts is this better or worse. We all know Pipi's leftist tendencies but would it be worse with Lapid???

Lapid has already agreed that there is to be no reference to "2 states for 2 people" and that any withdrawl from Yesha would be by public referendum only, which means he is better than Pipi.

Pipi is a bought-and-sold NWO Operative (American Faction); Peres is the NWO's European Faction Israeli Operative.

Lapid, like Bennett, is unbuyable, unthreatenable and unbribable by the NWO, which means they are both in imminent danger of being taken out.

Rand Paul and Yair LaPIG are evil. Why do JTF people speak highly of them? Naftali is misguided.

Where do you get this stuff from.  You are living on another planet.  Lapid is a bought and paid for media creation who wants to destroy the Jewish people via Deform "Judaism" and 2 state suicide.

Anyone for Tennis?

Paul Eidelberg

As this writer has pointed out ad nauseam, Israel’s parliamentary system of Proportional Representation (PR) compels citizens to vote for a party list, not for an individual candidate. The consequences are destructive of democracy.

First of all, thanks to PR, members of the Knesset are NOT individually accountable to the voters in constituency elections. PR therefore enables the Knesset and the Government to ignore public opinion with impunity.

This is precisely what Likud leader Ariel Sharon and his Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did in the aftermath of the February 2003 election. Both betrayed the nation, as well as their Likud constitution, by adopting the Labor Party’s policy of unilateral withdrawal from Gaza—a policy rejected by 70 percent of the voters in that election.

By the same token, 23 out of 38 Likud MKs, betrayed their constituents by voting for the Gaza Evacuation Law when the bill was presented to the Knesset in October 2004. Clearly, Israel’s parliamentary system facilitates political treachery. Need I remind the reader that twenty-nine (29) MKs hopped over to rival parties in the 1998 Knesset elections? A marvelous example for Israeli youth! Which brings me to Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett.

Of course, 1998 was long ago. Lapid and Bennett may have still been in their political diapers. Or perhaps, like Shimon Peres, they, too, have sworn off history.

But we were speaking of the October 2004 vote in the Knesset on  the Gaza Evacuation Law. Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu revealed his mettle and foresight by abstaining from that vote on that law, which resulted in the expulsion of 8,000 of Jews from their homes in Gaza, now ruled by Hamas, Iran’s proxy. However one characterizes that that expulsion, it should be understood as consequence of Israel’s undemocratic parliamentary system, its lack of political accountability. That this system violates a cardinal principle of democracy, as well as of Jewish law, is of no concern to Lapid  and Bennett.

Either they are oblivious of this perfidious state of affairs, or they simply wanted to capitalize on Israel’s long-established system of institutionalized self-aggrandizement A.K.A. Proportional Representation, purveyed to the ignorant as the epitome democracy? Probably neither of these neophytes has had the time or the inclination to survey the world’s 80 democracies, almost all of which deem it outrageous to make legislators effectively immune to public opinion. And by the way, 20 of these countries are smaller than Israel in size and population. But perhaps this is of no significance to whippersnappers like Bennett and Lapid who are looking forward to a long political career like Shimon Peres, who never had to compete with a rival candidate for a seat in the Knesset.

Perhaps this is why neither Lapid nor Bennett denounced this political system which the illustrious Alexis de Tocqueville describes as a form of democratic despotism. Who wants denounce a system which so many people boast of at home and abroad?

Have you heard either of the above mentioned neophytes say, as David Ben-Gurion said years ago, that Proportional Representation undermines national unity and conduces to corruption?

Have you heard either Bennett or Lapid say that PR, which spawned 34 political parties in the last two elections, results in the formation of a government consisting of five or more rival parties which makes it virtually impossible to pursue a coherent, long-term national strategy?

Isn’t it absurd for a party to call itself “The Jewish Home” without saying a word about thirty-three rival parties committed to an electoral system that renders the formation of a Jewish home politically effete?

Isn’t it absurd for a party to refer to itself as the future—Yesh Atid—when it is just another secular party without a stitch of Jewish creativity?

Is it any wonder that these political adolescents hinder the formation of a government—let alone a respectable one?  Anyone for tennis?
