I don't think it is necessarily fair to compare them to the Hebros who believe that modern day Jews and white people are edomites and khazars. They just beleive they are lost descendants of Jews but they should have an orthodox conversion if they want to become Jewish.

It's especially silly since Hispanic is a made up race by the US Census Bureau. If Hispanic meant "Spanish origin" the way it originally was intended in Spanish, saying Sfardic and Hispanic is redundant since both words mean Spanish. Nowadays Hispanic is used to refer to Spanish speakers of Non-Spanish origin so it has the connotation of referring to non-whites from Latin America. It's a misuse of the word by the Census Bureau. Many Spanish speakers never even heard of such a made up race until they came to the US.

So I don't use the word Hispanic. I refer to people from Latin American as Latin Americans. If I'm referring to non-whites from Latin America in a racial term, I'll say Mestizo or Amerindian. To pretend that anyone from Latin America is the same made up race "Hispanic" is absorb. It's like if people said all Americans (White, black, Oriental, etc...) were all the same race ("Anglo" race). I've actually heard some people say Anglo-American for white Americans. Even that's not right. Most white Americans are not English. Only in places like Israel is Anglo used to refer to English speakers. If it's used to refer to English speakers, then black that speak English are also Anglo.

Or imagine that the people of every Third World country that France colonized magically became part of a "Franco" race. Blacks in Africa that speak French or no more a member of such a made up race as blacks in Latin America that speak Spanish are members of the made up "Hispanic" race.

I think Hispanic is important politically because it is used to usurp Affirmative Action benefits and gives benefits to people just because there grandparents came from Puerto Rico or South America even if they know Spanish or not which sounds insane to me. No other group gets massive benefits of being a minority just because of the language there ancestors spoke or came from.
