Well, if you've lived in Ukraine for the length of my life (except college), in other words 19 years, and have seen baby-eating Nazis everywhere, please let me know. I do plan to make aliyah and move to Israel one day, but not because of anti-Semitism. My existence is under no threat, and when I openly display the fact that I'm Jewish, as in flying an Israeli flag at my apartment, etc, I have nothing to fear. I'm not "defending" anyone, just stating facts. Yes there are plenty of anti-Semites in Ukraine, but less than there were in the time period which Rabbi Kahane was referencing. That is a fact.

Perhaps they dropped the medieval line of thought that Jews have horns and drink Christian blood, after seeing Jews doing nothing wrong (in contrast to Ukrainian pogroms). Many Ukrainians probably realized that their ancestors murdered Jewish children for absolutely nothing, however of course there are some neo-Nazi and Communist scum which hate Jews, I don't deny that. I'm just saying I haven't experienced any anti-Semitism except for one event here 7 years ago, and then another 4 years ago during summer break between my first and second year of college, when I traveled to the eastern part of the country.

Occasionally a few neo-Nazis from "Всеукраїнське Об'єднання «Свобода»"/"Wseukrayins'ke Obyednannya 'Swoboda' ("All-Ukrainian Union 'Freedom'") protest the Chassidic pilgrimage at Uman during Rosh Hashanah, which is always a complete mess every year. The Swoboda nazis start a provocation, and then some of the pilgrims behave badly, like blast music or throw things, and then it just degenerates into a complete mess. I'm really sick of hearing about it year after year, because everyone starts freaking out over the pilgrims, but thank God I haven't heard of any anti-Semitic incidents following Rosh Hashanah.
