You need to know a little Alinsky to understand that whole band of yahoos. They're the useful idiots, the temporary radicals, and the politicians use what they say to tax what people do already and do nothing positive.

However, the anti-GMO debate is not political. The GMO salmon is killing everything in the Atlantic and the wheat is missing chromosomes, and spawning GMO mutant weeds that are resilient to herbicides, requiring more pesticides, and they're poisoning the soil (since no actual crop grows in that chemical pumped earth). The issue in the first place is that they're screwing farmers by patenting crops, but foolish establishment conservatives think they're protecting their rights to be forced to poison the earth by Monsanto, and grow mutant crops.

You can achieve perfectly fine crops with equal or more yield by simply cross breeding species naturally. Mutant plants aren't good for people, and entire countries have banned them, and there are movements everywhere for it. I would say most are leftist, but I never actually found one that wasn't. Of course their solutions are mostly useless and many help leftists pull off green schemes, but in some countries the people have been able to rebuff the corporate scientist concocted mutated monstrosities they peddle as food.
