License granted to provide spare parts to Iran for Airbus aircraft
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Citing safety concerns, the United States is approving export to Iran of spare parts and other equipment for repairs on U.S.-manufactured turbine engines on Airbus aircraft operated by Iran Air.

Federal Aviation Administration warnings of a threat to air safety were cited in a statement issued Tuesday by the State Department.

While Iran supports terrorism and is pursuing a nuclear weapons program, "the United States is focused on the pressing humanitarian concerns that affect the Iranian people," spokesman Sean McCormack said.

The FAA has questioned whether the aircraft are airworthy and recommended immediate overhaul, McCormack said. The State Department and Commerce Department approved a license for the parts Sept. 29, he said.

The Bush administration bans virtually all trade with Iran as a terrorist sponsor. But McCormack said the U.S. government is committed to the safety of all air travelers, including Iranians.

Sanctions target the Iranian government not the Iranian people, he said.

The decision to grant a license will clear the way for export to Iran of spare and replacement parts, components and technical data for the repair and overhaul of a "limited number" of civil aero-turbine engines manufactured in the United States.

Under the current situation we have with Iran this is an outrage. With behavior like this from our government its not a wonder why Iran does just what they want.

IT GET'S MUCH, MUCH WORSE!

TAKE IT UPON YOURSELF TO DO A LITTLE RESEARCH AS TO WHICH AMERICAN CORPORATIONS HAVE SUPPLIED THE EQUIPMENT AND KNOW-HOW TO IRAN, IRAQ, AND YES...NORTH KOREA!...WHICH HAS BOTH ENABLED ISLAMIC & COMMUNIST MONSTERS TO DESIGN AND BUILD WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, AND SIMULTANEOUSLY ENRICH THE AMERICAN CONGLOMERATES LIKE HALLIBURTON, AND KELLOG, BROWN, AND ROOT TO GROW EVER RICHER (ALL WHILE ENJOYING "CORPORATE WELFARE" AND CORPORATE TAX LOOPHOLES; COURTESY OF THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER).

AND, MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT...BOTH THE DEMOCRAT AND REPUBLICAN PARTIES ARE EQUALLY GUILTY OF THIS INSANE BUSINESS!

THE SAME WAS TRUE PRIOR TO WWII:...THE U.S. WAS SELLING SCRAP & STEEL TO JAPAN WHICH SHE USED TO ARM HERSELF, AND ALLOWING HENRY FORD TO BUILD ARMAMENTS FOR ADOLPH HITLER, ON UP UNTIL THE VERY MOMENT THE U.S. WAS ATTACKED.

That's how Prescott Bush made the Bush famliy fortune---he was doing business with the Nazis.  Same goes for Henry Ford's Ford Motor Co.  Eisenhower's warnings about the military-industrial complex ring true today as well.
