If the virus is allowed to spread unabated, millions of people will die from it.  Israel is doing the smart thing by quarantining anyone who comes from abroad.  Because the virus is being imported from people who were in Italy, China, and other hotspots.   Rather than let them spread to others in Israel, they need to be isolated first for virus to run its course so they are no longer contagious.   The US should have shut down ALL incoming flights, a long time ago.

Regardless of what we think it is, what it actually is, and what it's actually doing and not doing, something monumental is taking place.  Whether it's made up or not, it's monumental. And it affects everybody from the skeptic to the fearful.  Whether it leads to one's illness and recovery, death, madness, and/or monetarily, it's an opportunity for us to think about our shortcomings in life. It's an opportunity to think about why God is angry at the world and why God is testing you as individuals and what you can you do to make amends.

If you think this is the fault of China, think again.  China is just God's tool to test all of us.

Good point. I learned that when you are sick there is a charge against you in the court of heaven and you must make teshuva, and if you are bed ridden it is a death sentence, and if you have no mitzvot to protect you, you die. Stock up on mitzvot even more frantically than toilet paper.

But another thing into consideration especially when it comes down to a relatively righteous person who is very ill and bed ridden and basically a vegetable:  that individual is getting punishment in his illness to take away from the harsh judgement in the next world.  Conclusion: never feel terribly sad for yourself or God forbid someone you respect and love that gets ill.  Always wish they recover fully and strong but remember that illness will God willing only take away from that punishment in the next world.

This is not ideal. The Rebbe said, "one mitzva is worth a thousand sighs". If you refuse to make teshuva and Hashem still wants you around, there are other ways to wash you, but better to move from one mitzvah to the next and not need this.
