I didn't watch, but if it's Yaron Reuven, I already know the lecture. In a sentence, Rabbi Mizrachi said sport attendance was only permitted during the Roman era so that when crowds called for the death of a Jew G-d forbid in the arena, there were Jews in the crowd that could demand he live.
