I don't think most Jews myself included have the foggiest idea of what vicarious atonement is let alone believe in such a thing!!!

Vicarious means performed, exercised, received, or suffered in place of another.

Vicarious atonement contradicts Deuteronomy 24:16: "A man will die because of his own sins."
