Yes, I need advice please.

I have to hand in 2 courseworks by tomorrow, each around 1000 words and I don't know what to do. At the same time I have to had in an ICT project in on Friday and I have at least another 10 hours of it left to go. Any idea how I should methodically complete everything, or most of the stuff. I can't think, my head is clogged up.

I know that, that is pathetic but I really don't know what to do. I always miss deadlines.

Scriabin,

What is your opinion on Russia?

Russia changed in 1917 for the worse.  Tzarist Russia was infinately superior to Commusnist Russia.  Russia once had a huge and prosperous middle class.  They used to produce Great Art, Literature, etc.  Now what do they produce?

Rubystars is right.  We all need to be able to tell ourselves, "No more internet today.  I have work to do."

Sounds like you're a procrastinator.  So am I.  The best thing you can do at this point is to try and calm down.  Stop thinking so much.  Instead, focus on your breathing.  Take long, slow deep breaths and breathe into your belly.  Your belly should expand and contract as you breathe.  One thing to remember is never hold your breath.

There's only so much that can be done at the last minute.  Don't waste your time with frantic over-thinking.  Correct your thinking and breathing and you'll have good results.

Thanks. I like this show.

That is Alexander Scriabin.

I am a musical fanatic and a musical snob.  I hate junk music.  I love the Beatles, but let's face it, they aren't worthy of shining Beethoven's shoes.

Scriabin is dear to me because his music is so unique and because he was such a fascinating character.  An oscar-winning movie could be made about his life.  The soundtrack is already finished.  I venture to say that Scriabin was the most original and the most imaginative musician who ever lived.

His compositions are consistently of the finest quality.  His calligraphy was perfect.  He wore the finest clothes wherever he went, etc.

Now, was he a saint?  No.

He was an adulterer, a blasphemer and a bad father.  Still, my musical passions are such that I cannot help how I feel when I listen to his music.

I guess that I call myself 'Scriabin' because I want to promote his music.  I think that he was a great composer that deserves to be heard.

Thanks for your question, Lubab.

Of course, but I can only Imagine what could have been.

There has been an overall decline in Music, Art, civilization and culture since Beethoven.  Did Communism play a role in that decline?  Probably.

Still, most of the great Russian Stalinist-era composers lived in America or at least, outside of Russia.

I disagree.
I don't think Communism is the cause of this.
It is the industrial revolution, and the fall of the Feodal System.
Beethoven actually advocated far-left Napoleonistic policies himself...

You are probably right about the industrial revolution.  I do know this, however.  A delicate artist like Scriabin would have perished under the Bolshevik regime.  Its a good thing that he died in 1915.

It is interesting to note that all of the Communist-era composers are insensitive, thick-skinned, angry paranoid types like Shostakovitch, Stravinsky and Prokofiev.

Thus he was a leftist, against the monarchies.
Mozart was a free-mason.

Haydn was working for the Esterhazys. That's a difference.

Music and art are never un-political.

How can Music be political?

Paining and sculpture?  Yes.

Literature?  Of course.

But music?

Explain to me the politics of Beethoven's piano sonatas, string quartets, symphonies (save number 9)?  I'm not speaking of Words and music.  That's another matter.  But again, it is the words that are at fault, not the music.

ALL music is political, and that has nothing to do with words.

The mere fact that Beethoven abandons the rules of strict sonate-forms , as set by Haydn,
[and liszt even more....]
Well, for me, all art/music/ is by definition a political statement.

Pop-music, is a statement of intelectual ultra-liberalism; or middle-class stupidity.
Rap is a statement of anti-whiteism.

But those styles are not music, or texts
that is just rubbish.

Real Music/without vocals:

is a political statement, or an expression of a revolutionairy Zeitgeist, or a more conservative Spirit.
Palestrina e.g. is much more conservative than Luigi Nono (communist a**hole).
Palestrina struggled to have polyphonic music in the Church-mass,
in a moment that some cardinals wanted to abolish the use of polyfony, and surely polytextual, multi-lingual works.

Lots of Renaissance composers wrote a French song (slightly pornographic sometimes :D , crazy times,....) on a Latin Cantus Firmus,
with an German folksong and a Flemish poem e.g.

That style was forbidden, and then Palestrina-style, with understandable vocals were the only allowed style.

There is a relation between the philosophy and compositional method of the Barok as well.

Romanticism is a paradigm in art, that is aiming to express PERSONAL feelings.
Barok never intended that.
Mozart wrote all works on demand.
Never wrote anything without getting an order.

Bach, Haydn e.g. were servants.
They couldn't write music, that was so unconventional like Beethoven did.

The function of Barok and Classic/Romantic music is different. "Zeitgeist"

The music [musak] of contemporary composers such as Stockhausen ...
isn't that ringing a bell , that we are living in a  weird time

Dear Scriabin,

If reincarnation is real, and if I were to die one day and then suddenly wake up, get out of bed, walk into the bathroom, and look into the mirror and see a negro staring back at me, I would immediately commit suicide.

So, Scriabin, in your esteemed opinion, would I be wrong in committing such a heinous act?...or would it be better to resign myself to being some kind of a "chuggle-monkey" and just go around raping and stabbing white people?

Personally I'd prefer to "end it all".

What's your advice?

p.s.--and before I forget...do you have white skin?

You have no reason to apologize.  I'm a loose canon myself.

Regarding Obama, I think that certain parts of America will be worth living in, but I also think that there will be a mass migration of righteous gentiles to the so-called 'red states'.

America is certainly worth fighting for.  But as long as our bellies are full, the last thing we're (righteous Americans) going to want to do is fight.

Thanks for the great question.

Scriabin, I was wondering what you think of Howard Stern? I think that although he is perverted, he sticks up for Israel continously. He even said that "Jesse Jackson should be pummeled for meeting Arafat." He said that Israel is a wonderful country. If you listened to his 9/11 show, he said what the muzzies do to Israel is the most disgusting thing. Now again, I know he is vile but I don't believe he is as bad as other self hating jews. Also, he is against the Iraq war as we are and he always talks about supporting the troops. What do you think?

If you listened to his 9/11 show, he said what the muzzies do to Israel is the most disgusting thing. Now again, I know he is vile but I don't believe he is as bad as other self hating jews. Also, he is against the Iraq war as we are and he always talks about supporting the troops. What do you think?

My feelings about Stern are not simple.  I think that, in his heart he know's we're right.

I also think that he's listened to Chaim on many occasions (like many influencial people).

What I don't like about him are the sex references.  I'd be a fan if he weren't a porn peddler.  The fart jokes are no big deal.

I love Jacky the Jokeman.

Thanks for your question, DWI.

Its not only childish - its foolish. Scribian is a man who has been blessed with great knowledge and strength. His wisdom needs to be explored and used in an assertive way.

Use your time for something usefull.
I beg your pardon. Listen, I am an up and coming gangster rapper. Give me a few months and you'll see me rolling with 50 Cents and Emminem. A friend of mine who knows Dr.Dre says he is interested in signing me to his record label. How can you say to use my time for something more useful?
You could call yourself Chamishim Agorah...

He said it in singular because the affirmative action rapper calls himself 50 Cent in singular.
Exactly.  ;)

This won't come naturally to you for a while.

You need to CONSCIOUSLY CORRECT your previous breathing habits.  This requires CONSCIOUS PRACTICE.  Every minute that you spend THINKING and PRACTICING proper breathing techniques brings you one minute closer to mastering these skills.

It takes a while, but eventually (after several months) these things become habits.  That is the goal, to get in the HABIT of breathing correctly.

Scriabin, how did you tell Sarah to breathe.  I need to work on this too.  When I go to the gym I can't breathe afterwards.  Also, I am working on your advice not to think.  Do you think a labotomy would be helpful?  You're the man.  Keep up the good work. O0

Thanks, Ari.  Here's what I told Sarah:

"Take long, slow deep breaths and breathe into your belly.  Your belly should expand and contract as you breathe.  Never hold your breath."

I forgot one thing.  Always inhale through your nose, never through your mouth.  This is a sign of bad health.  Furthermore, breathing through your mouth makes a person more susceptible to colds.

Thanks Scriabin.  Sounds good, similar to what I learned in a Yoga class I used to take in the gym.  How about exhaling?  Through the mouth, or both inhale and exhale through the nose?

Exhaling doesn't matter.  Only inhaling.

Thanks for your great questions.

The book that I asked you about actually taught me how to stop thinking.

You have to detached your mind from your body by actually looking at your thoughts from an outside perspective. It is complicated but i have managed to go even a couple of minutes without thoughts, just silence, it is very peaceful.

Another way is fixing yourself to the present moment through all senses and so every ounce of you is concentrated on what you are doing and their is no space or scope for thought.

I haven't read the book, but it's called, "The Power of Now."

Don't stop thinking, Ari.  Reduce your thinking.  We all need to think, sometimes.  The problem comes when we think too much.

Most thinking is unnecessary, I'd venture to say.

But I am interested in writing songs for others to perform.

The idea of selling songs is very appealing to me.

Yes, me too, Scriabin.  I have wondered if there is a market for any of the lyrics I have written, but I'm not sure if there is one without accompanying music.  Who are your favorite musicians by the way?  I'm a big Sting fan.

My favorite musicians are Beethoven, J.S. Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Scriabin, etc.

I also like Keith Jarrett, Planxty, The Bothy Band, Miles Daves, Thelonius Monk, Mel Torme, Hank Williams, etc.

As far as pop music goes I like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, etc.

Generally speaking, I like something from every genre of music.

Make sure that she presses the keys all the way to the bottom with each note.
