Title: I have tried today my first bottle of Champagne
Post by: Ulli on February 11, 2009, 02:13:14 PM
It is a really good bottle according to Johnson. It was a bargain offer because the store listed it out. I paid only a small ammount of money, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.

This is my oppinion:

It tastes similiar to a good Spanish Cava. The price, even the reduced is not justified. It is not bad at all, but the Spanish sparkling wines that are manufactured in the same way are equal or even a little bit better. But the price of the Spanish products is only the half to a third.

I think Champagne lives only from the legend.

Are there Israeli sparkeling wines that are manufactured in the traditional method of bottle fermantation?

I only had champagne once and I thought it tasted pretty good. I liked looking at it better than drinking it though. It looks nice in the wine glass.

Ah I wish I could remember the name of the whisky we drink, I just dont drink it often.
The beers I drink are Goldstar which is Israeli, and Heineken as you may know it (its from Holland i think).
There is also Maccabi Beer which is produced in Israel but I dont drink it.

I know Heineken. It is a "world brand". I like it too, but I don't drink it so often. It is very popular in Greece.

Goldstar is something I will try one day. :)

Heineken is from Holland. My Israeli friend told me that only old Israeli men drink Maccabi  ;D

Yes I have tried it. It is very sweet and has only a little bit of alcohol. Woman and girls like it very much. It is the favourite drink of the wife of a good friend of mine. As I was invited there for dinner they let me try. One glass of it was nice, but I don't think I could finish a bottle. It is too sweet.

It was a Bisinger Brut Rose, that I bought. The price I got it was really ca. 20 $ (15 Euro).

Look here I have scanned the label:
