Title: JTF movie recommendations
Post by: Xoce on March 22, 2009, 08:11:04 AM
Here are my 10 suggestions.  Add to the list! :) :) :)

Taken
(excellent!  Just finished watching it again this morning)
Defiance
  (read Debbie Schlussel's review)
Bella
   (starring Eduardo Verástegui :-*)
The Dark Knight
(the only thing that sucked about the movie was the homely ET-looking actress maggie gylgyllenhaal)
Gran Torino
(have not yet watched it but am sure it's excellent based on reviews/friends' recommendations)
Live Free or Die Hard
(It has an F-35 Lightning II.  What more can you ask for?  Best viewed on a large screen)
The Bourne Trilogy
(I liked the soundtrack to the movies, by John Powell)
Wanted
(I liked it even if it was a dumb movie starring... don't be mad, CF, Angelina Jolie)

There is no reason to promote a movie with that leftist scum bag Matt Damon. He bashed Sarah Palin.

Gran Torino was a great movie. It's like a "Dirty Harry" film. But they were to politically correct to make it about black or hispanic gangs, so they opted for a Chinese or Thai gang instead..(as if this country has a real big problem with asians).

I would also recommend "Slum Dog Milluionaire."  This film will truly open your eyes about the horror of muslim gangs in India.

As far as Dark Knight and Gillenhall

It was Really strange to see such an ugly female for a character that was supposed to be pretty.

it reminded me of when I saw Miss Saigon in Los Angeles, and the lead character was replaced by a hideous looking overweight girl.

E=mc2---an old silly love story set in France, but it gives me fond memories of when I was a kid

The Pianist

There Will Be Blood

No Country for Old Men

In the Valley of Elah

The Deer Hunter

To Kill a Mockingbird

The Godfather

The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly

Apocalypse Now

The Hoax

I as well enjoy Pedro Almodovar's movies

And don't laugh or make fun of me, but I love animation movies, especially Disney classics

I know I'm  a little mushy, but Disney just does it to me.

I would also recommend "Slum Dog Milluionaire."  This film will truly open your eyes about the horror of muslim gangs in India.

They were Hmong gangs, which are a people from northern Vietnam and Laos.  The West Coast does have a major problem with Asian gangs.  The Hmongs, Laos, Vietnamese and Cambodians have huge gangs all over the western United States.

Hindu Zionist said not to see Slumdog because it's pro Indian Muslim and anti-Hindu.

I'm not sure if it is considered leftist or not; but the determination of the father played by Tommy Lee Jones, really struck a cord with me.

And it was good to see a father go against the establishment to find out what happened to his son, and give that son the dignity he deserved.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that Mel Gibson is not super popular around these parts

Gibson is an embarrassment to the Catholic people. He still didn't apologize for his rant.

Even if he did.. and Even if he was drunk... I still think its just TOO EVIL of a statement.

However... he is a great filmmaker.

I don't watch many movies but I liked

Collateral

Heat

Munich

Defiance

Lord Of War

Blood Diamond

Labyrinth

Red Dawn

And that's all I can think of at the moment.

I prefer Anime/Japanese animation over any hollywood garbage personally.

I have to admit I'm talking in ignorance.  I haven't seen the movie but I heard from Hindu Zionist not to see it so I stayed away.  It doesn't to make a difference now that it has made $150+ million.

Wow, I have to say you're 100% on with those movies.  All awesome.

I didn't like the overall messege of Spielberg's Munich though.

I will miss it, however they way they chose to end it is ridiculous and left a sour aftertaste for me. I think I am going to make myself forget the last 20 minutes or so.

Amadeus

Godfather I and II

Oh Brother Where Art Thou (even though I don't like George Clooney)

Gone with the Wind

Shop on Main Street (very powerful foreign movie)

Dances With Wolves

Searching for Bobby Fischer

Rocky (just the first one)

Midnight Run

Star Wars

There are so many that I like, I can't think of them now.  Amadeus is my favorite.
