Title: Do you like deer?
Post by: admin on October 18, 2007, 01:58:43 PM: I'd want to eat venison (deer) but the only kosher venison you can get is in bulk amounts ordered from The Internet.

I like them in nature too.

I love deer.

Marinade

½ cup vinegar

3 gloves of crushed garlic

2 tbsp salt

2 tbsp soya sauce

1 tsp oregano

1 tsp ginger

Mix ingredients together and add just enough water to cover venison.

Place in refridgerator overnight

5 lb venison roast

2 tbsp flour

2 cloves crushed garlic

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp dijon mustard

1 tbsp Worcestireshire sauce

¼ cup lemon juice

1 large onion, sliced

Allow venison to stand overnight in marinade in refridgerator.

Season with pepper

Roll in flour and brown in hot frying pan.

Place in slow cooker and add remaining ingredients.

Cover and cook on low for 12 16 hours

Ready to serve

Elks are HUGE! I went to a store called the "Bass Pro Shop" (I don't know if anyone heard of it too)
The whole store is "outdoors" themed, so they have a lot of dead (taxidermy) animals everywhere! The elks were huge. They didnthave a Moose, but they hadsome bears and a lion. It's sad to see them once alive and now dead but it was interesting. I had never seen a real elk, bear or lion...even if they were dead.

I've seen Elks face to face when I went to Colorado.. they're bigger than horses, with antlers. One of them stared me down, scraped his hoof on the ground and started walking towards me faster and faster. I walked behind and tree and then started running :o

Very rich meat, non fatty, can compare it to kangaroo.

Its a very strong dark red meat, served with a full bodied red I would recommend O0

Taste like a chew type of veal (young beef), its only eaten here by Muslims and some ethnics groups.

Really its not a menu item.

Post by: takebackourtemple on January 03, 2008, 09:29:13 PM: I had it once. I was at someone's house and they were preparing dinner. At first I wasn't told that it was deer and thought it was beef. It was pretty good. It was prepared like a roast. I can't imaging having it again for a while.
