I was with a group of 6 choir girls when this happened and they completely flipped out. ;D  They kept repeating that it was so sad because they think he was "hot".  Sad that that's all they can think about, yes.  I was really shocked as well, I almost couldn't believe it.

Yes, he was in a gay movie but from what I've heard he's a nice guy, and he has a young daughter who will grow up fatherless.

He wasn't necessarily a druggie.  He was found with both prescription and non-prescription sleeping pills, so he probably ODed on those.  He could have just had a hard time sleeping, as I do.  Looks more like a suicide than a drug overdose.

That's possible too.. the reports are saying that police aren't sure whether it was suicide or not.

He says this in plenty of interviews that his role as The Joker was the most physically demanding and often could not sleep even after taking Ambien. I think he died from pushing himself too hard sort of like Bruce Lee.

It really is sad to see someone who had the potential to have a good life go out like that. It seems money and fame is not always the best things for some folks. Being a well known entertainer must be a tough existence. The list of the dearly departed from that group at a young age is very long. Hopefully he will rest in peace.

On a serious note, it is very tragic that he died like this.  He was only 28 years old, and had his whole life ahead of him.  His daughter...:'(

While Ledger's decision to be in Brokeback Mountain is unpopular, it is tragic when any person who has a gift or potential, whether they are famous or not is a tragic event.

Personally I know the hardship of growing up without a father and do not wish it on anyone...
