Democrats in Israel Gearing Up for 2008 Election

(IsraelNN.com) American Democrats in Israel already are trying to register new voters to participate in next year's primaries prior to the 2008 Presidential elections. Joanne Yaron, head of Democrats Abroad, challenged the idea that Americans living in Israel should not vote in the American elections, maintaining that "it's a privilege to take part and vote in two democracies."

Republican Abroad also are preparing to reach their ranks, but the race between Democratic Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Osama and former Senator John Edwards have captured media attention.

Americans in Israel traditionally vote Republican at a far higher rate than those living in other countries outside the United States.
