Previous: That sound in the [video] are explosions taking place in Paris, France on Friday night. A series of coordinated attacks took place across the city, involving what appear to be suicide bombs, AK-47s, and a hostage situation in a concert hall that is still ongoing at the time of this posting. CNN reports the death toll at 60, but that number is likely to go up. From CNN:

At least six shootings took place in Paris and three explosions took place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis late Friday, CNN affiliate BFMTV said. Two or three gunmen entered the Bataclan concert hall while opening fire on law enforcement, BFMTV reported. A source earlier told CNN there were six to six hostage takes, citing a person they were talking to inside the venue.

Authorities are treating this as a terror attack. Eyewitnesses have reported hearing the gunmen shouting “Allahu Akbar”, and combined with the coordinated nature of the attack, the choice of weapons, and the suicide bombings, it’s unlikely to be anything other than Islamic terror, though that has not been officially determined.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer reports that ISIS has started an Arabic language hashtag on Twitter celebrating the attack, with thousands posting their joy and celebration over the murderous attack.

There is a gun battle under way as this post is being written outside a concert hall where a rock concert was underway and were reports indicate as many as 100 people are still being held hostage. President Obama will be making a statement soon.

UPDATE 1: Grenades were among the weapons used. One of the bombings is confirmed as a suicide bomb that was detonated inside the football stadium. France has closed their borders says President Hollande. Photos are slowly coming across Twitter. Here are a few aggregated by NBC.

UPDATE 2: Witnesses now hearing a great deal of gunfire from inside the concert hall and five new explosions have been heard. Reports via social media from inside the hall indicate the hostages are being executed one by one.

UPDATE 5 (12:30pm ET Saturday): Provisional death toll (official) has been adusted to 129 dead. 99 more victims remain in critical conditions.
