Trump Flips On Four Campaign Promises In One Day
On Wednesday, president Trump managed to change his stance on four different policies that were key campaign promises he made to voters.
Here are the four issues he has flip-flopped on to:
1. Labeling China a currency manipulator
Speaking with the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, Trump indicated that because China is not “artificially deflating the value of its currency,” he doesn’t feel as if it would be appropriate to label them as a currency manipulator.
“They’re not currency manipulators,” Trump said in the interview, arguing that China hasn’t manipulated their currency for months. Trump also added that he did not want to make any moves that would derail talks with China on taming North Korea’s aggression.
This was an often used battle cry for Trump on the campaign trail as he made his pitch that he would be tougher on trade. Trump argued that he would label China a currency manipulator on day one, but it appears he won’t label them on any day at all.
Trump also criticized Obama for not labeling China a currency manipulator way back in 2012.
