Trump Says U.S. Should Accept Putin’s Conquest of Crimea

putin_trumpRepublican presidential candidate Donald Trump is suggesting the U.S. accept Russia’s annexation of Crimea if it would lead to better relations with Moscow and stronger cooperation in fighting Islamic State [terrorists].

In an interview Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Trump suggested that the people of Crimea would rather be part of Russia. That runs counter to the Obama administration, which imposed economic sanctions against Russia for annexing the territory in Ukraine two years ago.

The United Nations doesn’t want countries to recognize Crimea as part of Russia, and some top Republicans are staunchly defending Crimea against what they say is Russian aggression.

  • The jingoistic nonsense coming from the Obama administration concerning Russia is the typical war-mongering rhetoric Democrats repeatedly use to take attention off their own crimes and subversion in America. The majority Russian population in Crimea held a referendum in response to the illegal coup government the US helped install in Ukraine. Secondly, there was no way Russia was going to hand over a major Russian naval base owned and operated by Russia since the 18th century. Russia has been more effective in the fight against the monstrous ISIS in several months, than the periodically self-destructive attempts by the Obama administration, which has given funds, arms and thousands of vehicles to ISIS over those years.
