I wish I had a thanksgiving dinner.   :(

Mostly everyone went home and Hillel was closed so the only real option was to make Thanksgiving dinner just for myself and that seemed like too much work.   I pretty much just studied all day.  :-[  One of my friends said he'd bring some leftovers back for me though.   O0

I hope you enjoy the leftovers - I usually don't like leftovers but on Thanksgiving I do - sometimes more then the meal.

I did.  It was an interesting experience.  We went to a friend's house we didn't know all that well.  Over dinner, I asked what everyone was thankful for.  There was kind of a confused silence.  I said I was thankful to live in a great country, that our country is still on the map, that I am in good health, etc.

After that suddenly everyone spoke up and said similar things.  I think people forget sometimes how much we have to be thankful for.

I just returned from a nice Thanksgiving dinner with my family. I can understand and respect Chaim's perspective. But this is something that gives my family a nice opportunity to get together, plus they depend on me to come. I don't attach any religious significance to it. It's just something we've always done and still continue to do for the sake of family and FOOOOOOOOD!!!

Man oh man, you guys have GOT to try the apple pie from Cosco! It's astounding!!!

not to mention the pecan pie from Costco.

But I'll have to just say that I'm glad that American Jews celebrate this good natured holiday. I have to disagree with Chaim even though he has a good point about Jews practicing American holidays. Factually he's correct, but somethign doesn't feel right about what he says.

Ah Yes Vlad the Impailer...aka Vlad Ţepeş cel Wallachia/ cel Drǎculea!!!!! He was great! I love Romania and he was a prime example of Euorpeans fighitning back the HORRIBLE Turks who would have taken over, made dhimmies out of Rumanians and raped the land! He wasa good leader, whowas betrayed by the noble class.

Anywho, even though I don't like Thanksgiving, I had to go to my borther and sister-in-law's home to have dinner. It's always done Egyptian style with tabouli and we had lamb shanks. yey  :(

I loved it when Vlad nailed the hats onto the heads of the muSSlim emmisaries! LOL!!!

You gotta LOVE that guy. :)
