Newt Gingrich.
He's NOT my first choice. I hate ALL establishment politicians.
But he would be the smartest choice for McCain, politically speaking:
1. The talk radio Republicans LOVE Gingrich. Rush Limbaugh adores him. Gingrich would bring most of the Limbaugh/Hannity/Fox Republicans back to the party.
2. The evangelical Huckabee voters like Gingrich. Gingrich is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-traditional marriage, anti-amnesty and talks tough against Islamic terrorism. Gingrich is from Georgia, in the heart of the Deep South and the Bible Belt.
3. Gingrich says that we must act against Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, because "they would use them". Gingrich calls Ahmadinejad "another Hitler" and says that both America and Israel face the threat of a "nuclear holocaust" from Iran.
4. Gingrich said that the Bush Middle East road map "is not a peace process, it's a surrender process".
5. Gingrich calls for a crash program for energy independence on national security grounds.
Now there are also bad aspects to Gingrich. He's part of the evil Washington establishment. He supported the viciously evil Nelson Rockefeller for president in 1968. He sent a letter to Bill Clinton in 1998 warning him not to release American hero Jonathan Pollard. In other words, like all establishment politicians, at Gingrich's core, there is moral decay.
But Gingrich's speeches on Israel and Islamic terrorism in the past couple of years are better than those of Romney, Giuliani and the other phonies who keep telling us about "moderate" Muslims.
Gingrich is despised by the leftwing news media, but he is adored by the "conservative" establishment. Look at some of his speeches:
