The United States Geological Survey has reported that a magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck very close to the western Iranian town of Dezful on Saturday. The quake, which reportedly ran 6.2 miles deep, occurred at 11:53pm and was centered 15 miles north of Dezful toward the Iraqi border.

But my point is that I don't care who hates me and who isn't it --- my life, like every other Jew's live, is around Kidush HaShem and Chilul HaShem. Once The Name of Heaven is  desecrated, we are obligated to sanctify it. I don't care whether there are Iranians who hate us or don't hate us, but the Name of Heaven is much more important. I'm just sure that there were good Amalakites who didn't want to go to a war with HaShem and His people, but HaShem had no mercy on them as a nation.

I think I agree with Ron's point about not offering a hand to an enemy. I think if you are a good person it is often tempting because you want to believe in reciprocity and the common decency of your fellow man/person.  But in this case, these people despise us, or at least their government sponsored leadership does. I would be very wary, that my hand would be dragged into quicksand if I extended it

I think you are right, but since I don't live there and I don't know hundreds of Iranians, I can't say for certain what the people think. I only know that they let their leaders get away with evil--which is why I think you are correct

I certainly understand Ron's point, I just don't necessarily agree with it.  My opinion is that even if they are our worst enemy we should still try to show kindness towards them when possible. A crisis like an earthquake or some other calamity also supercedes what ever religious or political issues we may have with them, and it is a question of humanity. I do realize that my opinion on this is probably contrary to what the Torah teaches us; we are supposed to kill our enemy before he kills us, and probably are not supposed to offer kindness to him.  As I said before this is just my personal opinion...that we should try to be the better person by helping an enemy or showing mercy even to one who would not show us any.

Every day we should pray for the protection of the righteous and the destruction of the wicked. Many times the righteous are destroyed along with the wicked, and I know this is true from my personal experience. I do not wish the righteous Iranians, and I have many Persian Jewish friends who have family there, any suffering. But the wicked should suffer and I hope that any damage which occured in Iran happened to the wicked who have plans to destroy Israel.
