Richard Silverstein Posts Document Detailing 4-Step War Plan

Washington — A prominent left-wing blogger has published what is claimed to be an outline of Israel’s attack plan against Iran. Richard Silverstein, on his blog Tikun Olam, has posted a report that is based, according to Silverstein, on a briefing document prepared by the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Silverstein’s blog is known for breaking news banned for publication in Israel due to military censorship.

According to the post, Israel has set out a four-step plan for its attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, if and when the cabinet gives military commanders the green light.
First, Israel will carry out an “unprecedented cyber-attack which will totally paralyze the Iranian regime and its ability to know what is happening within its borders,” according to the claimed outline of the attack plan, which Silverstein states came from “an IDF officer.”

“The electrical grid throughout Iran will be paralyzed and transformer stations will absorb severe damage from carbon fiber munitions which are finer than a human hair, causing electrical short circuits whose repair requires their complete removal,” according to the document.
Next, the Israelis will rain missiles both from their own soil and from nearby submarines that will target Iran’s nuclear facilities. The warheads, the blog claims, will be conventional but will include special ammunition built to penetrate Iran’s underground facilities. In the third phase, an Israeli satellite will pass over the region and collect data assessing the damage caused to the targets. This information will quickly be relayed to Israeli Air Force jets already en route so they can adjust their targeting. The Israeli air strike, Silverstein writes, will be carried out by warplanes equipped with stealth capabilities unknown even to the United States. They will bomb not only nuclear facilities but also missile sites and other factories, and bases involved in the nuclear program.
The information published by Silverstein could not be independently verified and there is, as yet, no official Israel reaction to the post.
According to Silverstein, the details were included in a document provided to him by a “high level Israeli source” who received it from the unnamed IDF officer. It was presented, he states, as Netanyahu’s “sales pitch” to convince wavering cabinet members to support his plan for war against Iran. Netanyahu’s inner cabinet of ministers governing security issues has reportedly voted 4-3 against a unilateral Israeli attack on Iran, for now. Silverstein claims that Netanyahu used this briefing document to help make the case that Israel can successfully carry out a “shock and awe”-style attack on Iran based on its superior technological and military capabilities.

The point of publishing Silverstein' unverified intel is? Silver stein's point of view is skewed. And the Forward's? I I I do not approve every Israeli action, BUT is Israel not allowed to develop a contingency plan re a country that repeatedly calls for its destruction and is actively working toward that end? Is it not to be allowed
to defend itself --like any other nation?

It appears that Silverstein's info was lifted out of an Israeli forum called Fresh, is purely speculative and groundless and is not from any inside source. He is now trying to deny. Doesn't look good at all.

In the wake of his latest egg-on-face episode, anti-Israel blogger Richard Silverstein tries to explain away the fact his “scoop” appeared on a forum site days before his post.

When one publishes an important leaked Israeli government document as I have done, one has to expect a counter-attack from the hasbarafia. And it has come. I’m going to share a few words on the background of the document and address some of the scurrilous charges raised about this matter. Then I’m not going to address it again nor publish any further comments on it.
About a week ago, I received the document from a known and trusted source who is, as I’ve often said here, a former Israeli government minister. It was in turn leaked to him by an IDF officer.
Unbeknowst to my source, the original IDF leaker also gave the document to a member of the Fresh forum, an Israeli gossip and politics forum. That Fresh member wrote a largely fictional account that included very limited portions of the actual document which I published in full.
Contrary to claims made by many in the hasbarafia at sites like Harry’s Place and CIF Watch, anyone who actually reads the Fresh post and compares it to what I translated & published would see that there is very little overlap. Of the entire 500 word (in English translation) document, perhaps 100 words are in the Fresh post, which itself is quite long, probably over 1,000 words (I haven’t checked).
Well, I have. Here is the document posted by Silverstein:
המתקפה הישראלית נפתחת בפעולה משולבת של מתקפת סייבר חסרת תקדים, המשתקת לחלוטין את יכולת השלטון באיראן לדעת מה קורה במדינתו שלו. רשתות האינטרנט, הטלפון, הרדיו והטלויזיה, לווייני התקשורת והסיבים האופטיים המוליכים אל ומהאתרים החשובים – כולל בסיסי הטילים התת קרקעיים בחוראמבאד ואספהאן – מוצאים מכלל פעולה. רשתות החשמל ברחבי איראן משותקות, ואתרי טרנספורמטורים סופגים פגיעות קשות של חימוש המפזר סיבי פחמן הדקים משערת אדם – היוצרים קצרים שעל מנת לתקנם נדרשת הסרתם הפיזית – משימה סיזיפית לאור הפצצת השטח בחימוש מצרר שחלקו בעל השהיית זמן וחלקו מופעל מרחוק באמצעות אות מלוויין.
מטח של עשרות טילים בליסטיים נורה מישראל לעבר איראן, וטילים בליסטיים לטווח קצר (300 ק”מ), נורים מצוללות ישראליות באיזור המפרץ הפרסי. הטילים אינם מצוידים בראש קרב בלתי קונבנציונאלי – אלא בראשי קרב בעלי מטען חנ”ם וחרטום מוקשח במיוחד, שנועד לחדירה עמוקה של מטרות מוקשחות במיוחד.
הטילים פוגעים במטרותיהם – חלקן מעל הקרקע, כמו הכור הגרעיני אראק, שנועד לייצר פלוטוניום וטריטיום, מתקן הייצור של המים הכבדים שלצידו, מתקני הייצור של דלק גרעיני באיספהאן ומתקני ההמרה לגז אוראניום הקסאפלוריד – וחלקן מתחת לקרקע כמו המתקן בפורדו.
מטח של מאות טילי שיוט הולם במערכות שליטה ובקרה, במתקני פיתוח ומכוני מחקר, ואף בבתי מגורים של בכירים במערך הפיתוח הגרעיני והטילי של איראן. מודיעין שנאסף מזה שנים בא לידי ביטוי בעריפה כמעט מוחלטת של הדרגים המקצועיים והפיקודיים של איראן בתחומים אלה.

הבה נחשוב לרגע קט, איך יכולה להיראות תקיפה ישראלית באיראן? תקיפה שתוצאותיה יהממו את המשטר בטהראן, והצלחתה תהדהד מקצה המזרח התיכון ועד וושינגטון הבירה. (כל הכתוב להלן מבוסס על פרסומים ישראליים רשמיים, על פרסומים זרים בחו”ל ועל דמיון הכותב).

Now lets go back to Silverstein’s claims:
Unbeknowst to my source, the original IDF leaker also gave the document to a member of the Fresh forum, an Israeli gossip and politics forum. That Fresh member wrote a largely fictional account that included very limited portions of the actual document which I published in full.
Wrong. The Fresh post contains Silverstein’s entire document, with a few minor, grammatical changes.
Contrary to claims made by many in the hasbarafia at sites like Harry’s Place and CIF Watch, anyone who actually reads the Fresh post and compares it to what I translated & published would see that there is very little overlap. Of the entire 500 word (in English translation) document, perhaps 100 words are in the Fresh post, which itself is quite long, probably over 1,000 words (I haven’t checked).
Wrong. Silverstein’s entire document is in the Fresh post. 290 words of the 1432-word Fresh post are from Silverstein’s Hebrew document.
In other words, he’s still misrepresenting the facts.

Mr. Silverstein,
Forgive me once again for disturbing you, and your site, and following this message, I promise not to bother you again(and therefore, please spare me the frantic shrills of “Hasbarafia”-which is even more childish than your above claims).
I’ve already submitted a complaint to the BBC, and they have announced that they are taking this matter very seriously.(Perhaps, to the point of completely purging your “expose” from their site).
Your lies, mendacity and verisimilitudes about Israel will be your undoing.
Do us all a favour, remove the “I am Pro-Israel” badge from your pages; some might actually be fooled into thinking so about you.

“Ma’ariv” also tells us, today, that you’ve been contacted to excuse your lies; it’s also running this story.You’ve been exposed.(Sadly, once again).
Just apologize, and issue a retraction. Save whatever “face” you still have.
And like I said, I won’t ruffle you again.
Here’s hoping the commenter is correct, and the media will stop taking Silverstein seriously.
