Jerusalem: New Rules Require Israeli Medics To Treat Terrorists Before Victims

israel_terror_victim[Jerusalem] – A new directive issued by the Israeli Medical Association (IMA) this week now stipulates that Israeli medics must treat wounded at terror sites solely on the basis of the severity of their injuries, and that possibly means treating attackers before victims.

TimesOfIsrael.com reports that the new rule which was implemented this week and replaces the old guidelines stipulating that wounded be treated based on the philosophy that “charity begins at home”—-came about following a meeting last week at which doctors with Physicians for Human Rights argued that current Israeli policy contradicted widely followed medical ethics and international humanitarian laws.

Reps for the IMA said that the change in policy was purposely implemented without any official public announcement due to fear of backlash amid the current spree of stabbing attacks in Israel.
