Ferguson, Baltimore … now McKinney?
McKinney, Texas, has joined Ferguson, Missouri, and Baltimore as cities known not for their business, tourism, climate or economy, but as communities torn apart by racial controversy.
The Texas town has been targeted by protesters since a video of a white police officer confronting a mostly black crowd of teenagers went viral, leading to claims of police brutality.
But some commentators say the drama in Texas is the latest case of racial agitators deliberately dividing Americans for their own personal gain.
Colin Flaherty, the author of “White Girl Bleed A Lot: The Return of Racial Violence to America and How the Media Ignore It,” says he is outraged at how the press has distorted the story.
“I am constantly amazed at how local and national media are able to ignore and deny basic facts of a story,” he said.
“In this case, huge numbers of black people were trespassing at a private pool, attacked the white people at the pool, bullied and attacked their children, destroyed property and the entire time used racial epithets. And when they were asked to leave, they attacked the security guard.”
Brent Embry, a black local resident, posted a message on Facebook charging “THUGS” were responsible for crashing the party.
According to Embry, it was a security guard, overwhelmed by sheer numbers, who called the police. Embry has reported being called an “Uncle Tom” because of his comments denying the incident was about race. His posting on Facebook has since been taken down.
Breitbart Texas has also reported residents in the neighborhood are receiving death threats, and their homes are being vandalized.
Rev. Ronald Wright, a black pastor identified with the group Justice Seekers Texas, expressed outrage at the treatment of blacks by police.
In what some are interpreting as a threat, he claimed: “We just passed the open weapons law here in this state [and] we’re setting the stage for a terrorist attack in this country. And the group is not going to be ISIS, it’s going to be ‘US-IS,’ us against these injustice [sic] law officers and people who continue to allow racism to go into this city.”
Flaherty says racial hostility is actually being taught in schools nationwide, as well as “in church and at home.”
Specifically, Flaherty references the “white privilege” teachings implemented in public school curricula as an example of sowing distrust and even hatred of white people.
In his view, the protests in McKinney are politically motivated.
“Many of the black people in this city know the drill, play the race card and dare anyone to say differently,” he told WND.
Larry Elder, a lawyer, talk show host and author of “Dear Father, Dear Son,” agrees racial divisions are being deliberately created.
“It drives ratings. It corroborates a narrative that the left-wing media believes about cops routinely racially profiling and engaging in police brutality against blacks,” he said. “Never mind the fact that cop shootings against blacks are down dramatically over the last several decades, while the instances of cops shooting whites has remained constant.”
Elder suggested people need to calm down and wait for the results of an official investigation. And he stressed that a few seconds of video taken as a police officer confronts a mob will not accurately portray what happened.
Commenting on the video, Elder observed: “A lot of confusion, the cop was afraid that perhaps he might be rushed and that his weapon might be taken away from him. There is no good way to handle a mob like this without calling in more cops.
“No matter what happens, video footage will look ugly and chaotic. Perhaps the cop overreacted in arresting the teenager girl who was seated, but there’s no evidence that he acted out of racial animus. We also don’t know what preceded the tape. Investigation, obviously, is necessary.”
Flaherty condemns conservatives and libertarians who attempt to excuse “black mob violence” with what he calls “racial pandering.”
“Race-conscious programs aimed at black people, racial pandering and racial consciousness is the problem, not the solution,” he said.
And he believes people around the country are growing tired of increasing violence.
“As more people learn the truth, I expect people of all races to say they will not put up with it,” he said. “And that is where we are now: More and more people are learning the truth about how widespread black mob violence is. And how often local and national media ignore, deny, excuse, condone, encourage and even lie about it.”
But Elder says the reaction is operating on two levels. He believes a greater number of people will begin to stand up for themselves if they are caught up in a controversy and say, in his words, “Enough of this race-card nonsense.”
However, Elder also says that because people want to avoid the issue, they will steer clear of intervening in certain situations.
“Cops show this by becoming passive. And we already see crime has gone up in Baltimore, Ferguson and New York as a result,” he said.
When asked what conservatives can do in response to such incidents, his answer is simple.
“Tell the truth.”
Stop voting for the demRATS; stop giving money to them. Stop giving money to black white haters.
