Where We Go Next: The Orlando Sentinel
« on: January 20, 2008, 06:18:57 PM »
                                                                                             בס''ד

I picked the Orlando Sentinel for our anti-McCain campaign for the following reasons:

1. It is by far the largest newspaper web site in Florida. In 2007, the Orlando Sentinel received 2.1 million unique visitors a month, making it the 13th largest newspaper web site in the country. By contrast, the Miami Herald had 1.1 million unique visitors per month, and was the 28th largest newspaper web site in the country. So with the Orlando Sentinel, we will reach more people than with any other Florida web site.

2. Most of the Orlando Sentinel's readers are Republican. Since only Republicans can vote in the January 29 Florida primary, this is our target group. Most of the readers of the South Florida Sun Sentinel (another newspaper with a similar name) and the Miami Herald are Democrats.

3. Florida is split into three distinct regions: a. north Florida is similar to the Deep Southern states of Alabama and Georgia; b. central Florida is dominated by former Midwestern Republicans; c. south Florida is heavily Cuban and Latino.

In past primaries, about two thirds of the state's total Republican voters came from central Florida. The main newspaper web site for central Florida is the Orlando Sentinel.

Also, the Orlando Sentinel is user friendly.

As with virtually all newspapers, the Orlando Sentinel has endorsed the leftwing John McCain.

I believe that McCain is the clear favorite to win now. In my opinion, our only realistic hope of stopping McCain in Florida is with Mitt Romney. If Mike Huckabee could not win in South Carolina, where 62% of the voters are evangelical, then I cannot see how he wins in Florida where evangelicals are a much smaller group. I think Romney is our last chance to prevent a McCain nomination. If some of our members would prefer not to support Romney yet, then at least post anti-McCain comments without endorsing anyone else.

You can post comments in the Orlando Sentinel without registering. But it just takes a few minutes to register and there may be some advantage to registering (I have not yet had time to see what the difference is). I have already registered and posted my first comment.

I've been hearing about a McCain-Lieberman ticket, Chaim.  Do you think this will happen?  If so, it could be more bad news for Florida.  I hope Huck still has a chance.

Only their blogs require approval, which is something I have seen on many newspapers.

But if you respond to their articles or editorials, your comments should appear automatically.

I agree Chaim--this is much easier to use than The State.

Question for you: Huckabee is in second place in FL, after McCain. Does he stand any chance if Fraud Thompson (ys"vz) drops out?

Yeah. My city. I've seen plenty of ads for Huckabee, but none for Giuliani. I have the feeling Huckabee is going to be the winner for the Orlando metro area. I'm not sure about the rest of the state.

Kansas Jew, you know that I also preferred Huckabee. But if you promote his candidacy now, you are helping John McCain. Florida is probably our last chance to stop McCain. Huckabee has no chance of winning there. Huckabee is now doing in Florida what Fred Thompson did in South Carolina - taking votes away from the main anti-McCain candidate (Mitt Romney) and splitting the anti-McCain vote.

Your correct. I was hoping for a Miracle but we have to go on facts. However I am not able to edit my post after I listened to your program.  8)

Does this mean we are now supporting Romney? Which candidate should Floridians vote for? I'm probably not going to be allowed to vote in these primaries since the election committee messed up my registration and it is uncertain whether this will be resolved in time. I can try to influence other people though. I'm still hoping for Guiliani to win. Even though his platform is not as good as Huckabee's he has proved himself by cleaning up New York City.

ARTICLE MENTIONING CHAIM:

I don’t know if any JTFers came across this ridiculous, untrue and mad piece from http://www.antiwar.com about Chaim, JTF and his background. Published on 24 December, 2007, by the extremist, radical left-wing
lunatic, Justin Raimondo – entitled “Ron Paul vs. the Dirty Tricksters”.

“I want you to meet Victor Vancier, AKA Chaim Ben Pesach, head of something called the Jewish Task Force, a splinter group originating in the extremist Jewish Defense League:
If this was just another Internet clown parading around on YouTube making a fool out of himself, well, that would be one thing. But Vancier is no ordinary clown. He is a follower of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane, whose Kach movement is an officially designated terrorist organization, and Vancier is a convicted terrorist himself.

"In 1987, he was arrested and charged with masterminding several bombings. He was convicted, along with his co-conspirators (though one committed suicide), and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
In this context, Vancier's declaration that Ron Paul's supporters deserve to be killed is ominous in the extreme.

"The hate just jumps off the screen and comes right at you. In this sense, Vancier reminds me of… Bill White! They both have a penchant for stormtrooper-semi-military drag, violent hyperbole, and the sort of hectoring, wide-eyed hysteria and outright viciousness that repels any ordinary human being but attracts fellow miscreants and social rejects. In short, they're both crazy, and in practically identical ways. But that's not all they have in common: both hold ideological grudges against Paul and his fellow libertarians. Vancier hates Paul's foreign policy views, which he sees as a threat to Israel. White, who has attacked libertarians – and myself in particular – resents Paul's success because the good Dr. No has a non-racist, nonviolent, anti-collectivist explanation and solution for what White and his fellow Nazi nutsos attribute to a nonexistent "Jewish conspiracy" – the Federal Reserve, bank credit expansion, and subsequent waves of bankruptcies and foreclosures.

Paul offers his growing audience of politically and often economically disenfranchised voters a rational explanation in the insight of the Austrian economists and the works of Ludwig von Mises, while White and his tiny cadre of National Socialist Workers look to the discredited pages of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”

Who cares what this greaser thinks? He thinks that this Bill White guy (who I have never heard of) is a Nazi but that Ron Paul isn't? What is he on?

How about targeting college kids, who will hopefully turn out for a change in high numbers.  Florida has two enormous state colleges, the University of Florida in Gainesville (where I nearly went incidentally) and Florida State University in the state capitol, Tallahassee.  Hopefully, we can put a dent into McCain's momentum. I want to see more people on the Orlando Sentinel! This is an emergency!

Try to be the first one posting a comment on a new article even if it's only slightly relevant. Use the opportunity to bash McCain (with facts) and prop up Romney.

That first comment on a fresh article will get read many more times than the 45th comment on a very relevant article.

I'm also posting the link to the SC forum since it has content
from past threads that we discussed about McCain.  http://forums.thestate.com/n/mb/listsf.asp?webtag=kr-primary&ctx=0&cacheTag=x36-44&ld=1%2F23%2F2008+04%3A34&mp=50&sts=1%2F25%2F2008+4%3A37%3A00+AM

John McCain is a divisive figure. He would like to legalise illegal aliens, grant them amnesty and would like to see family reunion programs that will do untold harm to the fabric of the U.S.

The very left-wing John McCain worked together with his best buddy Teddy Kennedy to grant freedom for illegals.

John McCain supported the bombing of so many innocent Serb men, women and children.

John McCain supports the creation of a Muslim terrorist state in the heart of Europe, an Albanian Muslim terror state; he supports the Albanian Muslims terrorists against the heroic Serbs.

John McCain will be a disaster for the U.S. He is an utter disgrace, as someone who is very anti-Israel and praised Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton’s foreign policy initiatives (at a 2001 debated in Iowa), which have done untold harm to the U.S. and Israel.

John McCain is such a phoney, fake figure – not a conservative or a real Republican, but a very old liberal politician.

John McCain is much like Barack Hussein Obama and Hilary Rodam Clinton in his political, social and economic views.

John McCain supported John Kerry for president, he praised him tremendously!

John McCain voted against President Bush’s tax cuts.

John McCain is totally unacceptable and irresponsible. He has to be opposed and Romney supported as a candidate.
