Why is The Pornography Industry So Popular?

Well, I guess the simple answer is that it's easily enticing, but can you believe it's a 400 billion dollar a year industry bigger than all sports leagues combined.  I agree that the people involved are generally souless scumbags just out to make a quick buck, yet I also find it strangely fascinating why a young girl would sell out and become involved with the industry.  It's quite sad.  Thoughts?

Porn industry is just like Hollywood or wrestling, many of the higher end pornography models have agents and people will contact them and pay hourly rates to film them and make money off of it. They market as "modeling agencies"

I don't know why people are addicted to porn, when I was like 13, I was hooked on it but not anymore. I think that is just hormones kicking in and people see it and get hooked on it thinking that's normal and that causes a demented mindset of what's acceptable and what's not.

While I don't condone looking at porn, I'm not going to lie and say I never have.  I don't think it's the biggest crime in the world to look at.  I don't really believe that watching it makes you want to run out and be a rapist and do some immoral act, any more than I believe watching a horror movie or the news on television makes you want to go nuts.  It's more disturbing though to me that it has become so casual for many people to actually partake in.  I think you would have to be crazy to do this, but remarkably it seems like it has become almost mainstream.

Far from the truth, most porn companies market through advertisements, spam, and free TGP sites (with sample videos, pictures, etc.), the majority of the income is actually from Video On Demand websites where you pay for minutes and then are able to view those videos streaming. VOD is relatively difficult to get access to for free since the streams are encoded and it's all server side. The companies that are losing money aren't necessarily the porn companies but the publishers.

Porn is a pretty big business online, it's not like it used to be where you had to go to blockbuster and go to the adult section looking for something, internet has made it widespread.

I don't support pornography, then again, what people do in their own spare time is not my concern. I don't think we need the government regulating what people can and can't look at, when I become a parent, I will find my own ways to prevent my kids from looking at it.

Anyways, just ask the majority of teenagers around the world from 14 and up. Heck even when I started using the internet when I was 9 or 10 (1994 when I first got online), I used to get free porn emailed to me all the time. I remember loading up a picture and I was on a slow 33.6 K connection at the time, pictures slowly loading and my mother sees a horse and she's like "awww that's cute" then it loads up more and theres a naked lady on top of it and she's freaking out like "close that now!".

It wasn't hard to find porn at 13, and it wasn't difficult to get past the filters. Many of the Arabic countries and China have strict laws on pornography but yet if you go on paltalk, the majority of the perverts in the adult rooms are Arabic. It's really quite an impossible task to stop it. Just look at Israel, while pornography is illegal to sell/trade (in most of the country except Tel Aviv if I recall), it's still easy to find it, you'd pretty much have to ban webcams and heavily monitor every aspect of the web which is just...well nearly impossible.

I do realize the harmful effects of pornography though as it does cause one to think immoral thoughts about women and think certain things are acceptable that aren't, as the hardcore pornography gets worse, the more acceptable society thinks it is.

Oh not to mention, I believe masturbation is forbidden in Judaism to begin with, something about not wasting the seed and that it is worse than murdering a person if I recall? I mean what else would people be looking at porn for? I think it's fairly obvious

At one point, when i was a teenager, there was really no internet..it was all finding the magazines in my brothers' closets.  Now, free porn is to easy access...especially if you figure out the best sites to go on.

As far as masturbation for men...i'm not going to go with a Jewish perspective...but with the idea in mind that for a non-married man, it can be a way to release any tension that can be used against others if everything is kept inside. So on the basis of beign worse than murder in a non-married man, I would disagree...it means to suggest that he shoudl just go out and have sex to make kids even if he isn't married.

ON the other hand, if a man were married and he masturbates instead of give his wife a child in particular when she wants one, then I would agree that it can be seen as worse than murder.

As far as Nidda...of course it's gross not to have sex for those 5-7 days of a woman's period...I'm talking about waiting an extra 7 days after the last drop of blood is seen...that's the kicker!

Also dont be ashamed to ask a friend to install the filter threw their email and password for your computer, and only them knowing the password, same with parents who should themselves install filters for their children.

No thanks, don't need a nanny state to tell me what's good for my health, I don't need porn because I have a girlfriend, don't need someone to tell me what's good for me and what's not.  Yepp keeping the laws of Family Purity is very very important. First off keeping it properly (being seperated and then the women going to the Mikva) besides the great spiritual benifits (which shouldn't be minimized) will also keep the relationship going very well, and keep one from hating one's wife, and being bored from her. During the time their would be longing for eachother. Also the kids prodoced will be much better towrds their parents then if a women doesn't go to Mikva after the period and has children. It would be very hard for the children not to be rebillious towards their parents.
  Also having relations with a nidda is a very graze sin that should be avoided at all costs, the couple can get Karet (excommunicated by G-d), G-d forbid for someone to do this upon themselves.
