Judaism is a system of understanding which can be used to raise a soul up toward connection with Hashem. An Ideal Jew would be one who strives to see Hashem in every aspect of physicality. An Ideal Jew sees g-dliness in nature and in humanity. The way to gain this understanding is through Torah and Mitzvot. This is what Judaim is. Judaism is not a religion.

stereotypes.

An Ideal Jew should attempt to do as many of the 613 commandments of Hashem as commanded. This involves Observing Shabbat, Wearing TzitTzits, Donning Teffilin, Davening 3 times a day, eating Kosher, honoring your mother and father, not making idols, etc.

What is so hard about that?

relatively speaking he's a good Jew...Relative of what the ideal Jew should be accroding to JTF, he's not terrible, but has some work to do..

He comes from a family of rabbis and generally agreed with Meir Kahane. Not sure where he would stand with JTF, though.

I didn't realize there was a measure of an "ideal Jew." I am sure I would not even come close to what your standard of ideal is
but that doesn't make me a liberal/self-hating Jew by any means. I share many of your beliefs too, but I would not be
considered a good Jew in your eyes.

I just read the story of Gitty Grunwald  in the July 21 issue of New York Magazine who escaped from life as a Satmar wife
and lost her daughter in the process. That story horrified me as do many of the practices of Hasidic Jews. But this one
in particular made me feel ashamed to share a religion with these people.

Horselady - you've made and excellent, excellent point!    I do think that we are somewhat hampered by our inclination to see every Jew or Gentile as "ideal" as us, as right wing or more to the right than us. This is ridiculous.

I have listen to Jackie on YT for a while now... he seems to be consistent with his views regarding Obama, but as far as defending the muslims, I think that's just PC since he works for a living and needs to be employed. I feels deep down he's a JTFer but doesn't know how to express it publicly w/o backlash.

Oh, he's definitely a conservative. I have spoken to him a few times.

He even joined the anti-Islam message board called Jihad Chat and posted a few times.

He gets interviewed by and sometimes fills in for conservative talk radio hosts and there's isn't a shadow of a doubt as to his
opinions about liberal Jews. I agree, though, that he has to watch what he says about ALL Muslims because
he works in a very liberal dominated industry.

In person, he speaks his mind.

I have heard him on the talk shows quite a few times. I think he even has his own show for a while that I have managed to catch a few times on a Sunday if I remember correctly. He is always good on the issues as good that is as the medum he broadcasts on allows. Sponsors have quite a bit to say about the show that carries their advertising so Jackie can only go so far. If you listen to him long enough you will see that he might fit right in here at JTF.

I heard that from Chaim too in an audio. He said he promised "us" money, then his agend denied knowledge of the conversation. I didn't know if he meant JTF or,  when he led the JDL.
