What is meant by "Bolshevik" at JTF?
« on: December 28, 2008, 01:40:44 AM »
I've heard and seen it used many times at JTF, and do not know what it means (aside from the early 1900's Russian Bolsheviks.)

Please explain, thank you!

Wikipedia has a good entry on it @

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Bolshevism

Quote

Jewish Bolshevism, Judeo-Bolshevism, Judeo-Communism, or in Polish, Żydokomuna, is a pejorative antisemitic expression based on the notion that Jews are responsible for Bolshevism and Communism.

The expression was the title of a pamphlet, The Jewish Bolshevism, and became current after the October Revolution (1917) in Russia, and spread worldwide in the 1920s with the publication and circulation of the The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. It made an issue out of the Jewishness of Bolsheviks (most notably Leon Trotsky) during and after the revolution. Daniel Pipes says that "primarily through the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the Whites spread these charges to an international audience."[1] James Webb writes: "it is rare to find an anti-Semitic source after 1917 which does not stand in debt to the White Russian analysis of the Revolution."[2]

The label "Judeo-Bolshevism" was used in Nazi Germany to equate Jews with communists, implying that the communist movement served Jewish interests and/or that all Jews were communists.[3] Nowadays, the term is used on numerous antisemitic sites.

When we use the term here it is in reference to Jews who are more in line with Communistic thinking than with Jewish thinking. The current leaders in Israel are called Bolshevicks because they are more concerned with keeping power than protecting the Jewish people from attacks from the arabs.

I share the disdain for those 'Jews' who are more concerned with the state than with the mission the Jewish people have to inhabit the land and to learn the wisdom of our Torah.

Yes... JudeoBolshevism is a nonsence term coined by Hitler.

I would add that the Jewish "Bolsheviks" we refer to who run Israel, are characterized as such because they would do anything (including selling out the country and the lives of Jews) to keep their power.  The Bolshevik revolution of 1917 was first about political power; communism was an important element, but it was not the only element.  The Bolsheviks who run Israel also continue to run a socialist financial system that impedes growth and prosperity.  These Bolsheviks are so much so about the "equality" aspect of communism, that they allow arabs to sit in knesset, and would allow them to democratically vote Israel out of existence.

Bolshevik means an original Russian Marxist. Chaim isn't trying to invoke the idea of a "Jewish Bolshevist". He is just comparing Israel's leaders to Soviet leaders.

Bolschewist means "part of the majority" and it was the self-labeling of the followers of Lenin in Russia.

You are wrong Muman, it has nothing to do with Jews. Of course the Nazis claim that Bolschewism is a Jewish invention, but they claim the same thing of capitalism, old faisoned liberalism and many other things too.

I use it in the classic sense of communism and it's derivates.

It is imo a very accurate appellation.

The Bolsheviks were the predecessors of the communists.  There were many socialist movements in Russia such as the Menscheviks and others but the Bolsheviks were the most vicious, violent communists.

He just means communists by it. Israel's founding "leaders" actually were communists: Ben Gurion's Labor party was thoroughly Marxist.

Pheasant, if you read what I wrote I quoted from the wiki page which said that Jewish Bolshevism was a form of antisemitic propaganda used by Germany and other antisemites.

Thank you all very much.  As you can tell, I was confused by Chaim's use of the term.
