Hanna, we just bought 2 females Shepherds (sisters). We got them at 8 weeks and they are now about 14 weeks old. They are absolutely wonderful. They already have bonded with the kids and follow them everywhere they go. I know they are smart and will take care of things if I am not around.

Dogs are the best alarm system you can get. They can tell if someone comes around and has bad intentions.  I will get some pictures and post them. Their names are Sweetheart and Spiffy.

Awwwwww, cute..yes, do post pictures...

My cats always let me know when someone is outside, but as far as keeping them away, they are not that much intimidating....

Shepards are great dogs, aren't they?  I used to have one that my Father got at the police academy, they were retiring her after serving she duties to the police.
She was so well behaved and fiercely loyal.
Dogs really can bring pleasure to a person's life.

Well, keep praying, still haven't gotten anyone. I have people calling me out of the blue wanting me to hire them to do things to my house, but that isn't what I need.
