Skkie: "I don't like Duke for a number of reasons but the points he made in the first half of the video were completely valid. "
You've hit on a "cosmic truth", Skkie!
There is very little variation in the speeches of Nazis, Communists, and other groups opposed to freedom.
Hitler...Lenin...Stalin...and their followers -- Their speeches seem composed in several sections: The first section spells out, to a large degree, commonly accepted and recognized truths; a litany of the issues producing social, political, and economic turmoil.
These themes are the same today as they were in the 1920's ... Foreign policy fiascos abroad, an economic crisis at home, their national leaders appearing weak and humiliated on the international stage, the undercutting of military readiness and morale, a military/industrial/bankers cabal launching unnecessary wars to enrich the armaments makers the international banking cartels, etc. .
After listing the issues and problems, each one is dissected and analyzed as to its unique causes and consequences. Here is where inaccuracy and untruths enter the oratory. A high-visibility sector of the population is often singled out as either encouraging the problems, or willingly creating the problems.
Finally, the ANSWER to all the problems is revealed to the audience, with the promise that a quick and final solution will be forthcoming.
The only difference is in the ideology named as the solution: Communism, National Socialism, Theocracy, etc. etc...
Almost without exception, the speaker resorts to a diatribe where he or she assumes the audience understands that the state will reign supreme in all matters, individual rights and liberties will be no more, and mass murders will be committed against any who question or disagree - all, of course, for the good of "the people" or "volk".
America is one of the few countries in recorded history where the speeches of its political leadership have not followed these patterns.
Where [censored] David Duke's solution is to simply "Murder all the Jews", the solutions offered by the likes of Ronald Reagan are those such as economic growth, job production, personal advancement based on merit, a state of the art educational system, removing government intrusion and control of the private and business sectors, etc.
