Cynical lie or not, he's already being ripped apart for this from all sides of the aisle. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Since most Americans (including most "conservatives") are scared to death of looking "racist", maybe this will cause Newt to talk like George Allen did in Virginia and cause him to lose in the primaries.

While Newt Gingrich did indeed speak in front of a Republican Jewish Coalition audience this past Wednesday,    the interview  ( which was on The Jewish Channel ) in which Gingrich made the accurate statement was later in the week.    I'll post a video of that part of the interview:
