20 people injured in a shoot out at Sikh Temple in Oak Creek

NEW YORK: About eight to 20 people were injured on Sunday in a shooting that took place at a gurdwara in Wisconsin, according to media reports.

The shooting occurred at around 11 am (local time) today at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel reported.

Oak Creek police, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies have responded. The police has not given out any further details.

Initial reports said a witness to the shooting told law enforcement agents that the shooter was a heavy build, bald white male wearing a sleeveless T-shirt.

He was last seen with two handguns.

It seems that every day we have some mass shooting in this country. Growing up in the middle of collapse of Yugoslavia's society in 90's, when many lost not just their livelihood but family members, I never heard of people going into public places and shooting others to relieve  their anger. What is going on with Americans today?

That's what I wondered when I saw this article.  This type of thing has happened before--people attacking Sikhs thinking they were Muslims, and it gets me mad everytime I hear about it.  Just think of all the killed or injured Muslims we could have if people weren't so stupid.

It is a very painful incident. If it is a case of mistaken identity, then this pain increases by manyfold, considering the cruel understanding that the hapless victims were mistaken for the muslamics or taliban etc.

I find it reprehensible the shooting. At the same time I can't stand the double standard as well.  The news says it was a white guy, but when a Muslim Nazi does something, it's concealed most of the time.

Yeah, well, get used to it. This is the current environment that has been 50 years in the making in this country. This is an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime but the Fort Hood massacre was "a terrible tragedy".
