Since when, and why, there is this restriction when posting replies?

It also does that in private messages. Then it makes you wait 30 seconds to post again which can be annoying when trying to cut and paste the rest of the post in multiple posts.

This was put in place so that people could ask questions for Ask JTF, without being able to post a whole book as their question.

If there was a way to limit only the questions thread but not others, that would be better.

There used to be such a thing. Shlomo put up something on the main JTF site. But then you couldn't edit your question without messaging Chaim to tell him to do it. He also would sometimes add to your post.

It’s annoying. I need more than 300 characters to get my points across

You're an administrator. Can't you override restrictions?

Certain types of people have no problem only writing 300 characters. I wonder who dey be. But intelligent people write in complete sentences with correct spelling so it's harder to fit in 300 characters.

Obviously, I do not want to limit what our great JTFers can write on the forum. But the garbage software of this forum does not allow us to limit only some threads. We have to limit all or none. I hate it but that's what we have. I can't do Ask JTF shows that will last 3 hours.

No, even administrators cannot exceed the limit.

Didn't you notice that I drastically shortened what I write on the threads where I upload the shows every week? I also
am not allowed to exceed the limit. Again, I hate it but it's the only way we can do Ask JTF shows every week.

I had to respond here with four different posts. Because my response did not fit in one post with the limit. Is this worth it just to do the Ask JTF show? I don't know.

Chaim, you can ask people to limit their questions to 300 characters. If the question is longer, you won't answer it. That way we can do Ask JTF and post normally elsewhere.

I agree with the limits on these posts.  I feel that these posts are way too long.  I wish that the limits are 500 characters not 300.

Then why was Shlomo able to make a special place on the main JTF site just to ask questions?

In the past, we tried getting JTFers to limit their questions but many ignored the rules. I am willing to try again with a strict limit of two short questions per person. If anyone goes beyond two short questions, I will not answer them. Would that be acceptable?

Shlomo cannot help us right now, and I do not know how to do that.

You don't have to ask for permission on your forum. Even one short question is fine.

Perfectly reasonable. People hopefully will respect the request.
