Overcrowded hospitals
« on: October 09, 2007, 11:13:34 PM »
I saw a story on the news about overcrowded hospitals and emergency rooms.  Why is this occurring?

Of course, they just say to the social workers that they don`t have money to pay, and they don`t pay at all, but all the others who  work legally and pay taxes, pay for their health!

Why don't you verify legal status of patients?

All healthcare should be privatized.

Yes.  Propose it.  It could start with your hospital and then other hospitals could start doing it.

How would that work in comparison to how it presently works?

We stop paying for medicare and medicaid. If illegal aliens want health care, they pay out of pocket.

Could you explain to me how Medicare and Medicaid work and why the costs per patient are so high with these programs?

Before there were Medicare and Medicaid, how did the people who are part of these programs, pay for health-care if they couldn't always afford it?

These programs were created in the 1960's under LBJ. Since Roosevelt, there has always been some sort of social safety net/basic redistributive programs for the sick and the needy. I have no problem with paying a few tax dollars for these people who are unable to work, but I detest paying my hard-earned greenbacks for the lazy people and lawbreakers who benefit under the current system.

Aren't medicare and medicaid both fiscally insolvent and in financial trouble?

So either the amount that the government covers (through tax dollars) will have to decrease or taxes will have to increase by a lot?

Before the LBJ programs, were senior-citizens able to pay for health-care?

Go into an Emergency Room and yell "Immigration", I promise you, you'll clear the place out!

Yes because in the 1950's the system wasn't flooded, the prices were steady and America was EXTREMELY prosperous.

What caused the prices to go up so much?  If Medicare and Medicaid were to be eliminated, would senior citizens be able to afford health-care?

In Seattle the ER is packed with Blacks and Mexicans. It takes 6 hours for a guy who was shot to get in, but a minority who stubbed his toe gets a wheelchair at the door.

And the minority doesn't have to pay?
