Well I might be relocating to Chile for a year, my mothers boyfriend works on avionics for aircraft on a military base and he's getting a job down in Chile. I'm wondering if I should go with. Anyone know anything about this country?
-
I have very good friends from Chile, it's mostly Europeans (Spaniard, Italian and German), beautiful landscape, and it's the most conservative country in S. America. I'm thinking of going snowboarding there this summer!
-
And they make pretty good wine.
-
Chile is an extraordinary country... and has done so much in the last 10 years. I am sure you will find success there if you relocate there.

What is the crime like in Chile? I'm looking for a possible escape route if Texas completely becomes Norte Mexico or America becomes Estados Unidos. I'd rather stay in the USA if I can but it's getting creepy with Americans being stupid enough to elect a black nationalist. I wouldn't mind learning another language if I could be around more of a white area.

And the nature is beautiful, but the GDP is low.

They are strict on crime, and it is a mostly white country..

What??? Its the highest per capita in S. America AND its by FAR the most free economy.... (even wikipedia mentions this... but then of course they have to counter that by saying that there is income inequality... which ALWAYS happens when a country aggressively grows the way it has)

If you travel just a mile off the beaten path, you will find that Brazil is filthy beyond anything youve ever seen. But if you stay in the touristy sections.. its like paradise.

Most free country in south america on many different levels. You need to know spanish though although many know english. Good exchange rate, US dollar goes a long way in terms of food from a super market. Santiago has a lot of Smog but is safe since there are many military police all over the place. Very good subway system in Santiago. For Americans planning to visit for the first time be prepared to pay a one time $130 entrance fee (good for the life of your passport). There are some Jews down there. Not as many as Uruguay or Argentina (which happen to be the 2 other good countries in South America). LAN airlines is one of the best.

From what I heard Brazil is incredibly dangerous compared to Chile. I have never been to Brazil but I have been to Chile. Chile was very safe, as I said before they had military police on the street who were there to protect regular people (especially tourists). The least corrupt nation in South America.

I know a girl from Brazil who wants to move out as soon as she finishes her studies, she said it's like South Africa there. White people there (she is German/Ukrainian) have to live in gated communities, guard dogs, alarms, the whole nine to live a somewhat normal life. Chile is nothing like that, they don't take any crap.

Yes... I spend a lot of time discussing Chile in my Finance class. I think it contrasts well with countries nearby, as the RIGHT way run a country. However... it WILL go through a VERY tough recession in the upcoming years... it will be going through some tough growing pains.
BTW... it ALSO has immigration problems... and so does Argentina. Wherever there is wealth nearby filth... the people from the filth will ALWAYS try to escape it. Its sorta a law of economics.... but its geography makes it more difficult than the US to sneak into.
-
Don't know how true the content of this link is... http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/fellows/chile_2008/
It was actually posted on kahane.org and I happened to notice it.
In any case, there are always going to be a certain amount of scumbag nutcase nazitards no matter what country you go to.
Heck I even saw news reports about them in Israel not too long ago.

Yes in Argentina and Chile there are quite a few illegals from Peru and Bolivia.

Chile improved on September 11, 1973...

Brazil is a third-world schvartze hellhole. The touristy areas might be nice, but by in large it is a nation of jungle savages. It's a slightly more white and more developed Angola (the other major former Portuguese colony).

That's not ignorance my friend, that's the truth. The Hilton in Rio and the guided tours of the Amazon are not Brazil..

Vito, even I stopped answering Hidden Author. It was futility. Let's all follow my lead.

So, would you move to Chile, Vito?

As an absolute ultimatum? Maybe, or New Zealand. It depends on how dangerous this country becomes. Though I would really hate to make a decision like that..

Interesting, I recently was listening to the " Ask JTF " episode from May 28, 2008, again. ( 2008-05-28, show c ) At around the 1:32: 30, Hail Columbia asked Chaim what his opinion of Chile is. Chaim's answer is worth hearing, regardless of whether you plan on going to Chile. This caught my attention. Especially, with the direction that the United States is heading in:

Thanks eb22! I just listened to it, Chaim said Chile is around 30% white, but I've read other sources that have said over 50% white, so I'll have to research that more. And he is right about the corruption, but it is the least corrupt country in S.A.

My pleasure, Vito.
I came across three different sites. There seems to be conflicting info:

It seems nobody really knows exact numbers in regards to the demographics of Chile. Uruguay on the other hand is probably one of the whitest countries in the world (aprx. 90%). It is also the most developed country in S.A (surprise!), though I couldn't go there, the landscape is pretty boring. I love winter sports so it wouldn't be my place.

So your saying that the country with the 10th largest economy in the world (by GDP) is a "schvartze hellhole"??
-
It depends what part of Brasil you go to.
The southern parts are filled with whites.
The country is not a [censored] hell hole
Oh right C.F the whole country is filled with jungle savages yeah sure like you've met every single brasilian living there.
Stop making assumptions about everything until you've been there and lived there you have no right to judge anyone or any place

Well Brazil is a pretty big country so i'm sure not all of it is bad though I don't think i'd want to live there.
Also a lot of the UFC fighters from Brazil are white.

The European parts of Brazil are fine, but they are small pockets in southern Brazil.. the rest of the place is a crime infested ghetto or jungle.

First off people learn to spell Brasil correctly
It is spelled with the letter S not the letter Z
-
Maybe I'll move to Mali, so I can be prepared for the future of the USA.

In Portuguese it's spelled with an S, in English with a Z.

Not true I watch a lot of UFC and the Brazilian fighters aren't white. They are black and dark skin. I think Anderson Silva to my knowledge is the only black Brazilian fighter they have. They also have a big Japanese population as well.

Ive never seen anyone spell it with a 'S' in English. My spell-check even put a wavy red line under your spelling variation.

Correct, that is the truth. Brazil has the second highest population of blacks in the world, next to Nigeria. It is extremely dangerous. Lots of kidnappings, robberies, rapes and everything you would expect from such a typical 3rd world population. I traveled there back in the 1980's and I have cousins there. Recently my cousin Marcelo was robbed in a home invasion when he was home with his pregnant wife and he had to open his safe and give up their life savings, tens of thousands of dollars, to the thief or face death. This is despite the fact that they have a security guard at their apartment complex.
The street kids in Rio are out of control and are like vicious piranhas. They have no conscience and your life has no value to these vermin. Homes there have very high walls topped with broken glass embedded into the top with concrete. Go for a jog and risk being kidnapped. Anyone with wealth there is a high value target.
