I couldn't see a section/topic so I thought rather than do loads of individual threads, and the fact that Chaim and most of the members are into health and fitness. Why not have a thread.
It could be about how much sun is good for you, what you have eaten/what new dietary habits do you have. Exercise, do you do Gym work? Relaxation exercises and breathing exercises.
Il get the ball rolling, I have started the sun block routine that some of our members have recommended although I am sceptical as vitamin D deficiency is at a very high rate.
I am also getting a referral for orthotics to correct my flat feet for tennis.
I have also added red kidney beans to my weekly diet, do you agree with this move???
-
Beans/peas and cereals are complementary to each other in terms of the amino acids so it is good to combine them. But if you eat meat then you have another source of full proteins anyway.
I don't go to the gym but I do work out at home and outdoors with stress on aerobic ie 10km run, cycling. I am also trying to maintain decent level of flexibility and agility, coordination, and balance. For example Sometimes after a run I am cooling down by jogging on the edge of the pavement, both feet landing on the same line.
Sometimes every day tasks can be made into a little exercise. For example, brushing my teeth with the left hand, picking up stuff with the left hand etc.

I think starting this thread is a great idea.

I was quite proud I had two grilled salmon fillets, with cashes, peppers, and a large helping of pre cooked red kidney beans. Pretty balanced, I give tht meal 9/10 for healthiness, and makes up for a poor day diet wise
Great idea about doing tasks using other methods other than the norm, I also heard that its good for the brain, but not sure if increases Iq.
im trying to do posture exercises after dips and press ups. As I feel I slouch a little bit.

I've cut back on my intake of fruit juice, which is loaded with sugar. I'll occasionally drink a 6 oz serving of orange juice, but my intention is to wean myself off of fruit juice. I don't think anybody would sit down and eat six servings of fruit in one sitting, which is the approximate equivalent of a single serving of juice. Fruit should be consumed whole with the fiber intact.
As far as the sun is concerned, I have a very swarthy complexion but I always use a SPF 50 sunblock (http://coppertone.com/coppertone/products/SPORT/index.jspa). I don't know about the ramifications of possible Vitamin D deficiency. I'm not a medical expert. I do take a multivitamin (http://www.naturesway.com/Products/Vitamins/60194-Alive-Mens-Energy.aspx) that contains 200% of the Daily Value recommended intake of Vitamin D.
My exercise consists of running, jogging, power walking, weight lifting, crunches, sit-ups and squats. I pump iron either at home or once a week at the gym if possible.
As far as red kidney beans are concerned, they're a great source of protein and dietary fiber as well as other nutrients. You can't go wrong by adding them to your diet.

nice one, sounds good.
Yea Orange juice is a tough one. packed with vitamin c but packed with natural sugers. Im sure a few glasses a week wont do any harm. Just rinse round with water after for teeth reasons.
I guess you guys living in Israel means you have high UV rays levels?
-
I think I am the only Israeli on the thread so far. And yes I think the sun radiation is pretty strong in Israel. I am not sure if there is truth to it but it is often said that in the dead sea which is about -410m bellow sea level there are low levels of UV even though the place is hot and awash with sun radiation.
People with psoriasis go there to sun bath without sun screen. When I am there however I use plenty of sun screen.

Hiking is always very good for you, but you must get plenty of sleep after a strenuous hike or you'll get sick.
I don't wear sunscreen (because it feels horrible and burns my eyes severely), but I do wear a wide-brimmed hat. I should wear a long-sleeved white shirt, but I don't. :'(
Don't ever eat when you aren't hungry and try to cook for yourself as much as is possible.
-
Thank you for starting this thread, Christians For Jews.
I'm happy to say that I've been doing a modified version of the "Eat To Live" diet, and it looks like I've gone down a pant size. I say a modified version because I haven't completely cut out the animal products. I'll have some chicken or fish usually. And I haven't cut out coffee.
But otherwise, it's a little like how Chaim says he eats.
-
Oh, and kale is my new favorite vegetable. I just love using it raw in a salad. For dressing, I squeeze the juice of a quarter of a lemon (or lime), add some olive oil, and some iodized sea salt.
-
This is going to shock some here, I stopped eating meat for a whole month now including chicken.
-
I would feel extremely poorly extremely quickly without animal protein/fat. I know Chaim would disagree strongly but that's the truth for me.
-
A sigaret and a beer after my Krav Maga training a few times a week. You should try it.

I would only advise my enemies to smoke cigarettes.

I believe longevity is more related to genetics than to what we eat and do. While it is good to avoid foods which are known to cause cancer, known to cause obesity, etc... But overall I think it is ok to eat a diet which includes things some here think are not so healthy so long as it is balanced with more healthy items (including green salads, vegetables, garlic and onions, etc.)
My family doesn't have the longevity gene. I know people who have eaten healthy and exercised and yet they still were sick and died younger than some. I believe that most variables related to longevity come from our parents...
-
Eating fresh foods over conserved foods is always a good thing.

I agree.... or at least genetic aspect equal to the habit/diet aspect as long as habit and diet are within a reasonable range.
As far as what foods are carcinogenic..... who really knows? It seems every few years the list changes. What was good becomes bad and vice-versa. Obviously there are some things that are and always will be bad like smoking, Big Macs, and listening to Obama.

What do you guys think about drinking coffee ? Allot of recent publications attribute many positive effects to coffee drinking like reducing the risk to get diabetes and some types of cancer. I also read that regular coffee drinkers are immune to the bad effect of raising blood pressure and heart rate because their body adopts to the caffeine. Specifically the caffeine is said to have a positive effect in lowering the risk for Alzheimer and Parkinson and some other Neurological diseases as well as diabetes.
Anyway I drink coffee in moderation, like 2 cups a day on average. For quite a while I cut it off completely and I don't feel I have a dependency or addiction to coffee. But I also drink several cups a day of green tea which I think is even better then coffee at least in terms of anti-oxidants in it as and it has a lower dose of caffeine in it.

I think most research is that it is not bad for you except in extreme doses. But I hate the taste and caffeine has no effect on me anyway.

I once eliminated coffee from my diet too. Now I have at least one cup a day. I'll quote from the AARP New American Diet (http://www.amazon.com/AARP-New-American-Diet-Weight/dp/1118185110/):
"According to the NIH-AARP Study, coffee drinkers were less likely to die from heart disease, respiratory disease, stroke, injuries and accidents, diabetes, and infections. Here's one more piece of research: people who drank three to five cups of coffee a day in their forties and fifties had a 65 percent lower rate of developing Alzheimer's than those who drank two cups a day. This was regular coffee, not the fancy lattes, cappuccinos or mochas with added fats and sugars." (Whyte 199)

My problem is this: Fish does not agree with me at all. For me, it's like eating poison. The bad news for me is that fish is incredibly healthy for a person. Since I can't eat it (the smell alone nauseates me), are there any substitute foods that can deliver the same health benefits to me?

Fish pellets? Fish oil?
I too hate fish... The only kind of fish I eat are Gefilte fish (on Jewish holidays and Shabbat)...

Flaxseed oil is the best vegetarian replacement to fish oil. It is the richest vegetarian source (that I know of) for omega-3 fatty acid.

Coffee is okay, I guess, but I will say that in my own experience when a man drinks a lot of coffee it has a tendency to (how to say it delicately) change how he tastes, and not for the better. The same for a lot of processed foods- fresh fruits and vegetables (and moderate amounts of meat) are good to go, but a lot of canned or 'fast foods' will make a man.... not as enjoyable. (I can't say how it affects women; you guys will have to do your own research!)

This article on OU's website discusses the apparent health benefits of drinking Coffee responsibly...

Sometimes, things that we are so sure about for so long end up being the opposite of what we think. You might remember when eating butter was a big no-no and we should go for the margarine instead. Of course, we now know that a little bit of butter isn’t so bad at all and margarine and its trans fats is one of the biggest creators of heart disease. This same one-time-negative-stigma-proved-wrong scenario used applies to coffee.
I remember clearly when I was a little child, that coffee was only for adults and we even were told that children can’t have coffee because it stunts you growth. And then for many years, we were all sure that over-consumption of coffee was bad for you heart and might even cause certain cancers. Well, guess what, not only do most of these myths have no basis in fact; coffee may actually have health benefits. Large-scale studies have shown that caffeine consumption does not increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and does not raise cholesterol levels or cause irregular heartbeat. A slight, temporary rise in heart rate and blood pressure is common in those who are sensitive to caffeine-but the rise is minimal and proportional to normal activity like walking up stairs. That said, if you have high blood pressure talk to your doctor about caffeine intake, as some people may be more sensitive to its effects. Also, more research is needed to tell whether caffeine increases the risk for stroke in people with high blood pressure. Reviews of 13 studies involving 20,000 people revealed no relationship between cancer and caffeine. In fact, caffeine may even have a protective effect against certain cancers. Here are some of the benefits of coffee:
1. Coffee may help fight depression
A joint study from the National Institutes of Health and the AARP discovered that folks who drank four or more cups of coffee a day were 10 percent less likely to be depressed than someone who didn’t drink coffee at all. Oddly, the same mental-health benefits didn’t extend to other caffeinated beverages — particularly cola, which was linked to a higher risk of depression (perhaps because of the high sugar content). Therefore, researchers suggest coffee’s “mood-lifting effect might be traced to its antioxidants,” reports Prevention.
2. It may be good for your liver
Numerous studies have suggested that caffeine helps the liver regulate itself. Research presented this month by the Mayo Clinic found that regular coffee consumption may reduce a person’s risk of PSC, a rare autoimmune disease that can lead to cirrhosis of the liver, liver failure, and even cancer. But that’s not all. A separate 22-year-study of 125,000 people found that heavy drinkers who consume one cup of coffee a day were 20 percent less likely to develop alcoholic cirrhosis. Once again, those health benefits did not extend to other caffeinated drinks, including tea.
3. It’s a performance booster
It’s hardly a secret: Athletes and coaches have long used coffee to boost athletic performance before a competition. Caffeine, in particular, “has been proven to increase the number of fatty acids circulating in the bloodstream,” reports The New York Times, “which enables people to run or pedal longer.” (One study suggests that as many as two-thirds of Olympic athletes were found with caffeine in their urine.)
So: How much should you drink prior to competing? Researchers at Coventry University in England discovered that the magic performance-enhancing ratio appears to be 6 milligrams of caffeine for every 2.2 pounds of body weight. For a 154-pound person, that’s about two cups.
4. It may lower your risk of type II diabetes
Consuming three to four cups of coffee a day was found to be associated with a 25 percent lower risk of developing type II diabetes, reports Science Daily. But researchers weren’t able to infer a causal effect between coffee and the disease explicitly. They think, though, that the decreased risk may have something to do with the ability of chlorogenic acid and the alkaloid trigonelline to reduce early glucose and insulin responses.
5. It may lower your risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s
Yes, coffee may help keep your mind sharp as you age by slowing the onset of neurodegenerative disease. Multiple studies have suggested that coffee drinkers have up to a 60 percent lower risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia, and the beverage may help reduce a person’s risk of Parkinson’s by 32 to 60 percent, reports Lifehacker. Chuanhai Cao, a neuroscientist at the University of South Flordia, has a theory: Cao tells WebMD that caffeine “inhibits production of beta-amyloid,” a protein that has been shown to build up in the brain of people with Alzheimer’s disease. The older you get, the harder it is to metabolize — or use up — all that excess protein, which causes a log jam in your brain. The stimulant boost from coffee ensures “your system only metabolizes all of the available protein,” says Cao.
6. Coffee might even make you smarter
Time and time again, studies have shown that caffeine — which blocks the neurotransmitters in the brain associated with sleep — can temporarily boost cognition, especially when you’re not getting enough shut eye. “When you’re sleep-deprived and you take caffeine, pretty much anything you measure will improve” Harris Lieberman, a research psychologist for the military, told CNN in 2006. “Reaction time, vigilance, attention, logical reasoning — most of the complex functions you associate with intelligence. And most Americans are sleep-deprived most of the time.”
7. It lowers the risk of gout
A study in May of 2007 showed that the more coffee men drink, the lower their risk of gout. At least four cups a day lower gout risk by 40%, a Canada/U.S. study shows. Gout starts with a buildup of uric acid in the blood. This results in deposits of uric acid crystals in the joints and surrounding areas, causing swelling and intense pain. The new study is based on data from nearly 46,000 male medical professionals enrolled in the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study. Over 12 years, 757 of these men developed gout, report Hyon K. Choi, MD, DrPH, of the Un
8. Prevention of Pancreatic Cancer
A 2011 Meta analysis of 14 studies showed that there is substantial evidence from both laboratory and animal studies on the favorable influence of coffee on the risk of pancreatic cancer.
By the way, for those of you who think that having a nice high dose of caffeine will undo the overconsumption of alcohol, there is no evidence that it helps. So, if you do have a little bit too much, let someone else do the driving. For people who have a natural sensitivity to coffee, yes, it can keep you from falling asleep at night so don’t have your coffee late in the day. Also, people with sensitive stomachs or who have ulcers or Irritable Bowel Syndrome may get gastric discomfort and stomach pain from too much coffee. But for most people, a few cups of coffee a day, particularly earlier in the day, can have many positive effects.
Adding a little Java to your diet will “add hours to your day, days to your year, and years to your life.”

You should try CeraVe, it is excellent, gentle and made for people that have problem skin. It's the best sunscreen and moisturizer out there in your drugstore. Try it. It's recommended strongly by most dermatologists, some I know

I think we need to keep a careful eye on Hava.

You should try CeraVe and also use Cetephil cleanser. theres no soap in any of it. It's really good and I learned about it through my dermatology friends. I use it, or started when I developed a little adult acne

Don't say drink up because if more people start doing that it may raise the price :::D There was a study done time back that claimed coffee brewed using a filter had little or no health risk... It's the coffee oil which is problem... I drink about 8 cups a day of perked coffee... The drip coffee makers are just not hot enough and don't taste the same... I cut down the filter paper for the drip coffee makers to fit the percolator basket... The stove top percolators are better than the automatic electric ones... People should drink their coffee black no milk or sugar because them two things as well as some of the other garbage people put in their coffee is the real health problem in the picture.

today I ate some seabass grilled with cus cus and im currently snaking on walnuts. In the Summer period strawberries are in season and I ate loads of those.
Ive been adding cumin to a lot of my cooking, what the JTFS opinion on this Indian spice?

Cumin goes nicely with beans. But I think you're confusing it with turmeric, which is an Indian spice, and which is supposed to be very healthy. It's in the same family as ginger root.

Hey Lisa check this out.
Powerful, Little Known Secrets of Cumin
Posted by tina wolverton check me out on · google plus
Though I’m sure you’ve heard of (and probably use) cumin, I bet you didn’t know that it can help you with losing weight. Did you? Cumin is very common in African, Asian and Latin American dishes and offers a wide variety of health benefits… both for physical and mental health. Let’s take a look at just some of the reasons you should be including cumin in your cooking.
Physical Benefits Cumin Offers
First of all, cumin is an amazing source of iron, which is important for ensuring a healthy digestive system. It helps your body produce energy more effectively, carry a healthy supply of oxygen to the tissues in your body, and improves your immune system. An interesting thing about cumin too is that studies have shown that it is anti-carcinogenic. That means it can help prevent the development of cancer. Specifically, it’s been shown to prevent liver and stomach cancer although it’s only been proven with animals so far. Cumin has also been proven to help those who suffer from arthritis, asthma and kidney disease.
Cumin Helps with Weight Loss?
Because cumin increases your metabolic rate and body temperature, it is also becoming more well-known for helping people lose weight. In Indian cooking it’s commonly combined with a number or other spices, such as ginger, fenugreek, black pepper and turmeric powder. This helps increase the effect that it has on your digestive system and helps your body absorb more nutrients, which in turn helps prevent your body from storing fat.
Abdominal Fat Burning
Not only is cumin great at overall helping your body not to build and store fat, but it’s specifically good at targeting your abdominal fat. It can increase your fat burning by as much as 25 percent! But if you want to get the most out of cumin’s weight loss abilities, it’s best to combine it with other spices like mentioned above. A few more that you can mix it with are mustard, fennel and fresh ginger.
Kickin’ Out the Bad
Cumin helps your body get rid of waste more efficiently and quickly, which means it helps ward off disease and this also helps with weight loss.
Improve Mental Health with Cumin
As mentioned, cumin is also beneficial to mental health. It can help you improve your memory and sharpen your concentration skills. It’s commonly suggested to use cumin in your daily diet if you suffer from any kind of insomnia, too.
Summary
Cumin is an amazing little spice that just about anyone can benefit from. If you haven’t been using it, then start adding it to the dishes that you make. You’ll get an increase in your metabolism, kick your immune system into better gear, naturally detox your body on a regular basis and burn fat away faster. Besides, there aren’t any known dangers or side effects of cumin so there’s really no reason not to start using it today.

I think you are right, tumeric is that yellow root, a relative of another healthy spice- ginger.
Cumin is considered a home remedy for tummy aches, maybe it has other healthy attributes I haven't heard of.

I am not a big fan of this fruit. Indeed it is said they are healthy, but there are way too many seeds to deal with...
It is a good time to start thinking about pomegranates because Rosh Hashanah is a coming in the next month. We eat pomegranates as a 'siman'/omen for a good year. Since the Talmud estimates there are 613 seeds in a pomegranate we eat it as a sign for a year full of mitzvot.
http://www.askmoses.com/en/article/619,19383/Why-do-we-eat-pomegranates-on-Rosh-Hashanah.html
The Talmud1 tells us that "even the wicked amongst Israel are filled with good deeds like pomegranates [are filled with seeds]." On Rosh Hashanah, the Day of Judgment, we eat a pomegranate to remind G-d of all the good deeds we've done in the past year2.
Footnotes
1. Tractate Sanhedrin 37a
2. Also see Malbim Shir Hashirim, 4:3, where he mentions pomegranates having 613 seeds, which is analogous to the 613 Mitzvot
-
The seeds are good for you. But yeah, as Zelhar points out they are a massive pain in the butt, and the trees are full of thorns.

Sorry for the O.T. posts, but this video discusses both 'dates' and 'pomegranates' as Simanim...

CJD, EIGHT CUPS A DAY??????
-
There is a quick tool to extract the pomegranate seeds. I had it and used it in the past (it is now lost somewhere in storage). It is still messy, but at least it does the work allot quicker and most of the seeds get out intact despite the violent operation of the tool. I use the Juice that accumulates as a bonus little healthy drink for my effort.

Yes, I make the pot in the morning and if its a work day I take it with me in a thermos bottle... I drink it black so it actually stays good and hot for most of the day...

They are quite expensive when if you buy them in the store... Having a tree like that would be nice to have... Sadly I don't think they would do well here in New York... We have some fig trees here that should be in a warmer climate however they seem to be a tree that is adaptable to the weather here. Some of the old timers use to cover them with tarps during the winter to help them survive colder weather... The trees seem to do well even if left uncovered.

Wow, that is really something.... Does that really work as easy as it's shown in the video?
No it is less elegant then they show. First of all when you cut it in half inevitably you get some of the seeds punctured and Juice leaking, then the hammering crush a few more but the dome keeps the splash contained. However allot of the white membrane also ends up inside the bowl so you need to sieve it out. It still takes less time and effort then manual opening.

Here they aren't too expensive when in season which is only a few months. 100% Bottled Juice is mostly imported and more expensive.
Figs are among my favorite fruits as well. I like the ones that have red cores and are not over-riped I don't like them too sweet and soft.
-
today ive had a Banana, an apple, but not had my fav yet which is strawberries. Ill be getting some later.

My dad made a delicious fruit smoothie for me yesterday, but he still does not want to be Jewish.

The trees here are the ones that have the red cores... It started off being one tree but we transplanted it some years back along a fence and it has become almost like a hedge that runs for about 15 or so feet... I use to be low enough to get the figs while standing on the ground but it has got to the point where the best ones need to be taken from the higher branches with a step ladder... Years ago my grandfather had a yard with about 15 or 20 large fig trees he use to have one tree that had huge white figs that seemed to have less seeds in them then the red type did... I don't recall ever seeing that type fig anywhere else... In a few weeks the figs here should start becoming ripe and then the trees give about 15 or 20 a day for a few weeks... There would be more however the birds need to get their fair share also.

I thought so... Also the Pomegranate they used seemed to be prime specimens with very little membrane... Still the thing seems to do the trick which is quite amazing considering how hard it is to pick them apart by hand... Some times the stores here have them on sale for a bit over a dollar or so and I will buy a few...

You dont really drink 8 cups of coffee a day, right?

My dad made a delicious fruit smoothie for me yesterday, but he still does not want to be Jewish.
Bummer... Maybe one day he will when he realizes how good it has been for you.
My father was not a religious guy, but about 2 years before he passed away he saw my Teshuva and my Jewish observance and he told me before he died that it brought him to do Teshuva. I hope you have a beneficial influence on your father.

We all need to eat right and healthy, get plenty of exercise, and maintain our health, keep the weight down. Only God knows whats coming under this regime. The ole slogan applies.."You are what you eat."
-
I maintain my weight by using my Bicycle as a mode of transportation and avoid a bus if I can walk it (or have the time to)
Recently I've replaced tortilla chips and salsa with Carrots and Hummus. I drink huge cups (32 ounces) of water on a regular basis when I'm home to keep my metabolism up. I do have unhealthy tendencies such as energy drinks and coffee, I drink black coffee also with no milk or sugar and never or rarely drink calorie filled drinks. I never make time apart to exercise.

My diet: I drink 100% columbian organic coffee in the morning. Take my natural probiotics everyday. I replaced conventional cereals, vinegar, bread, ketchup, mustard, popcorn with all natural non-gmo products or any artificial ingredients. No meat consumption at all. Exercise daily, jogging, drink 5 bottles of spring water a day on average.
Vegetarian now for 3 months and shaved off 8 pounds! My kitchen is a home made garden.

ive been trying to eat a lot more green foods lately, peas, beans, etc.
What you guys opinion on Dark Chocolate?, reckon its healthy or not?
-
I think dark chocolate is not junk food but still it is a calorie bomb full of fat.
-
I eat an ounce a day (70% cocoa).

Portion size makes a big difference. A small amount of baking chocolate added to oatmeal makes it tastes really rich without adding very many calories.

Has anyone tasted Goji Berry (wolfberry) ? It's a much hyped berry that's supposed to be very rich in anti-oxidants and have various health benefits. Unfortunately it's pricey. I ordered for myself a package from ebay. It taste weird, there is a sweet and sour main flavor accompanied by some sort of a mildly bitter weird after-taste. Altogether it's definitely edible.

Since most people don't eat enough fruits and vegetables coffee can be the biggest source of antioxidants they get all day. Cutting that out while not improving the rest of the diet can actually harm people.
-
My favorite health foods are baked Kale and Artichokes boiled then the hearts stems and outer leaf eaten and the 'tea' drank.

'tea' drank ? Is that like "purple drank"?

I LOVE kale!

My goal lately is to cut down on red meats. Not that I ate a lot of them, but I do like my steaks etc. So fish, turkey and chicken is my main port of call from now on.

A Jewish guy told me he never eats cheeseburgers in McDonald's - he only eats plain hamburgers. He doesn't want to violate kosher laws.

My problem is this: Fish does not agree with me at all. For me, it's like eating poison. The bad news for me is that fish is incredibly healthy for a person. Since I can't eat it (the smell alone nauseates me), are there any substitute foods that can deliver the same health benefits to me?
I have the same exact problem. And it bugs me when people don't understand. They just don't get it! They think that if I eat the right fish that I'll develop a taste. I also have the same problem with cheese. I can't even walk by the cheese section in a store without gagging. I don't mean to be gross and vile, but I must tell the truth: certain cheeses smell like vomit to me. I have no idea whatsoever how people go near it let alone put it to their mouth. I truly don't understand it.
Luckily, I love vegetables of any kind and fruits of any kind. I'm a very limited eater in general, but it never gets in the way and it doesn't bother me at all. I could have a bowl of chicken soup with a healthy salad on the side every night and be happy.

Speaking of health and fitness, I think I've gone down a dress size. I actually had to give away several pieces of clothing to my older sister.

Both are mostly bullcrap. First guy, well he must be doing something right but his advice of getting lots of sunshine is appalling. Second guy talks allot of pseudo science. Both probably try to sell suckers easy programs and lots of supplements including dangerous ones like hormones.
You don't want to eat allot of proteins and grow huge muscles- that's bad for the kidneys without a doubt. You need to minimize sun exposure. You need to eat low calorie diet and even fast on occasion. You need to eat mostly vegetarian food, avoid junk food, fried greasy food, but eat lots of vegetables and fruit rich with anti oxidants.
As far as exercise I don't know what is the right balance. If you have muscle tones then your skin certainly looks better, but it doesn't mean you'll live longer. Endurance training certainly help your cardiovascular system. The mainstream theory today is that athletic activity builds up the body's ability to fight oxidation because it raises oxidation level during the activity.
But the key is calorie restricted diet, it's been proven on monkeys and many other organisms and by all likelihood it works with humans as well.

The first guy, apparently is strictly vegan. He says he only eats raw vegetables and fruits (and nuts I suppose). He obviously has little body fat and he keeps in good shape. Despite what he says about sun I don't think he gets much sun exposure himself. I can't see any tanned parts on his skin. His fitness regime must be more then short interval training. I think he lifts weight regularly at the gym. And while he looks great, he doesn't look like a teenager.
I don't know what's the deal with growth hormone, why it is supposed to be so good for anti aging according to non medical anti aging experts/potions peddlers. As for Testosterone, I don't think there is any reason to take supplement of that, maybe for elderly people with really low levels. Hormones can be dangerous especially sex hormones. Testosterone is related to prostate cancer I believe, and to head hair loss, and to body hair growth. Estrogen is related to breast and ovarian cancer. I wouldn't want to risk my health with overdosing on hormones based on some charlatan's advice.

i humbly disagree mate.
I think both are bang on with exercise. Quick burtsts are far better than these stupid 10k runs and more. For starters the constant jarring of the face muscles of long distant running, especially putdoors in the sun and wind with not good. Also long distant runners especially marathan runners do not live longer. In fact not only does it Ruin the ligaments and cartlidge from the jarring effect of long distance running, but also its showing no evidence to help with the heart. So many "fit as a fiddle" men die of Heart attacks due to Marathns.
I think a short phase sport such as tennis twice a week, and some press ups and gentle dumbell work. With pleanty of walking is ideal imo.
In the sun. I have come to the conclusion that you should where sunscreen, but to stay out f the sun is a no no. Dont sun bath etc, by all means as that saturates the vitimin d, but 15-30 minutes a day with sun screen should give you the much needed vitimin d levels.
Also i think the guy takes it to far(the teenager dude) but i agree that eating the correct fruits and vegatables produce the antioxidant to neutralise the UVA rays. So i bet with all the tomatos etc the guy eats he tans but never burns. I still think he should wear sunscreen but i admire his advice.
how many people would die of skin cancer if they eat fresh tomatos, spinich sweet potatoes etc every day.
So although i dont agree with all the videos state i think they have alot of backbone behind what they say.

There are some vegetables that actually greatly increase sensitivity to sun radiation. Among these: parsley, celery, and figs.

I don't claim to be expert on what exercise regime is best. I think you need common sense and feel what works for you, and don't take things to extreme. I can run 10km easy or I can try to really "bring it" and finish it in near exhaustion. Obviously you should watch out from sun exposure in any outdoor activity- including tennis too.
i humbly disagree mate.

I'm inclined to agree. I mean, look at French people. They eat plenty of cheese and butter. But they're not fat like Americans.

I am involved with an intense combat fitness program.. These are the type of exercises I do..
Cossack Chain Squats.. I managed to pick up some very think 3/4" thick link chain which weighs total of 70lbs for 12 feet. These are probably the most intense leg exercise in existence and work the hams as much as the quads.

It's a game of chance but you can influence the odds by lowering exposure to mutagens and increase your body's ability to resist them. Physical exercise increases the resistance to mutation. Eating various anti-oxidant rich foods (basically lots of fruits and vegetables) lowers the chance of mutation. Low calorie diet is another method if done correctly.
Chronic inflammation is a known risk factor for many cancer and other nasty diseases, so if possible always try to avoid and treat inflammations.
