Google claiming it can make us “gods”
As if life isn’t tough enough with the cunning that comes with human DNA, what with terrorists posing as refugees, psychopaths in the workplace and politicians getting elected with the express intention of fundamentally transforming a nation, not to mention paying millions in taxpayer dollars to organizations who sell aborted baby parts on the open market, the future a mere 15 years from now will mean having to deal with the “artificial intelligence” of peers gone rogue that Google insists on calling “God-like”.
Thanks Google for teaching humanity that when multi-nationals have enough money and the lodestone of power, anything’s likely to happen.
As far as is known no one on earth, no matter how far up the ladder of Google success they have climbed has ever met the Almighty.
So then how does Google get to define “God-like”?
Google’s director of engineering Ray Kurzwell is promising that with robots in our brains, we’ll be godlike.
It seems to have taken all the way into the 21st century for people to manifest dissatisfaction with how they were created.
But whoever thought that Google would cash in offering people robots for the brains they’ve had for a lifetime?
“Who wouldn’t be fascinated by the idea of becoming someone other than themselves? We do get so tired of being the same dull soul every day,” writes Chris Matyszczyk.
Just think of how tired Caitlyn got from being plain old Bruce Jenner without the tresses and bustier, or how long the mother whose video shows her giving her teenaged son hormone shots that went viral waited for fame for her 13-year-old son? (Rush Limbaugh, Oct. 1, 2015)
For some, (though mercifully few), it gets real tiresome being what God made them.
“ Kurzweil has a truly, madly, deeply optimistic view of who we will be when nanobots are implanted into our brains so we can expand our intelligence by directly tapping into the Internet. (CNet, Oct. 1, 2015)
“This is such a relief. I had feared that when a robot was implanted into my brain, my head would hurt. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be quite in touch with my feelings, as I wouldn’t be sure if they were real or just the promptings of my inner robot.
“Kurzweil, though, has reassured me. Speaking recently at Singularity University, where he is a member of the faculty, he explained that my brain will develop in the same way my smartphone has.
“We’re going to add additional levels of abstraction,” he said, “and create more-profound means of expression.”
“More profound than Twitter? Is that possible?
“Kurzweil continued: “We’re going to be more musical. We’re going to be funnier. We’re going to be better at expressing loving sentiment.”
“Because robots are renowned for their musicality, their sense of humor and their essential loving qualities. Especially in Hollywood movies.
“Kurzweil insists, though, that this is the next natural phase of our existence.
“Evolution creates structures and patterns that over time are more complicated, more knowledgeable, more intelligent, more creative, more capable of expressing higher sentiments like being loving,” he said. “So it’s moving in the direction that God has been described as having—these qualities without limit.”
“Yes, we are becoming gods.
“Evolution is a spiritual process and makes us more godlike,” was Kurzweil’s conclusion.
“There’s something so uplifting, yet so splendidly egocentric in suggesting that man will soon be God, thanks to artificial intelligence. The mere fact that this intelligence is artificial might be a clue as to its potential limitations.”
I’m with Chris Matyszczyk when he writes” Lord, help us.”
Meanwhile, just to think that before it was Obama, the UN and Pope Francis ganging up on us, it was only only Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’.
