Jewish Man Stabbed in Crown Heights (Video)
22 year-old man in stable condition. Perpetrator dies after being shot by police.
A 22 year old Israeli Jewish man was stabbed Tuesday morning (roughly 2:00 am EST) in Crown Heights, outside the Chabad-Lubavitch building at 770 Eastern Parkway in New York City.
The man’s condition is defined as stable, but serious; he was reportedly stabbed in the neck. The public has been asked to pray for him; his Hebrew name is Levy Yitzhak ben Raizel.
Police arrived at the scene and apprehended the perpetrator, now revealed to have been a 40-year old African American man. He may have also been Muslim, but this has yet to be confirmed. The attacker died after being shot by police as he was being treated for his injuries at Kings County Hospital.
One witness told the New York Daily News that was muttering, “I will kill the Jew, I want to kill the Jew,”
The street has been closed to traffic in both directions.
Yacov Haguel, head of the Department for Combating Antisemitism in the World Zionist Organization (WZO), told Arutz Sheva following the incident in New York that “the Jews are easy prey to hatred and incitement spreading around the world at any time.”
“The stabbing of a Jew at the Chabad House stabbing joins the significant surge of violent anti-Semitism in France, Belgium, in Europe and of course the United States,” he added. “US authorities must wake up and start to treat anti-Semitism seriously.”
The victim reportedly began studying at the Chabad recently after arriving in New York from Beitar Illit, according to Yeshiva World News.
Crown Heights is where the riots started back in Dinkins´ administration, when a black child was hit by a vehicle in a motorcade of a revered rabbi.
It resulted in the killing of a Jewish man, Yankel Rosenbaum. Al Sharpton was right there inciting anti-semitic hatred.
