Oh No: Ben Carson to Work With Trump on Obamacare?
According to Politico, Ben Carson, one time Republican primary candidate turned adviser to then Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, has stated that when it comes time for the Trump administration to deal with the Obamacare problem, he’ll be in the fray.
“I think the replacement obviously must come first and it must be something that is very appealing and easy to understand. And then, only then, would you dismantle what’s in place,” the retired neurosurgeon said in an interview.
Asked if he intends to be involved in designing that plan, Carson said, “Yes, of course.”
Carson often touted his career as a brain surgeon to be one of the selling points of his candidacy. Now with Trump heading to the White House, Carson aims to use his knowledge to assist with healthcare issues. What exactly this will entail, or what official position Carson will hold is something he and Trump are still ironing out.
Carson is rumored to be on Trump’s list for secretary of Health and Human Services, and most signs point toward Carson going down that road. While this position isn’t cemented yet, Trump has stated — during an anti-Obamacare rally no less — that he wishes to have Carson “involved in my administration in the coming years.”
