Susan Rice said Netanyahu’s Iran Opposition is Racist

Barack Obama, Susan Rice, Samantha PowerIn her view, the Israeli leader did everything but “use ‘the N-word’ in describing the president.”

How race-crazy is the Obama administration? This is the angle from which Obama’s national security adviser was approaching the Iran deal.

Rice, reflecting her generally more combative mind-set, would say to Abe Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, that in reacting to the Joint Plan of Action, Netanyahu’s posture was outrageous. In her view, the Israeli leader did everything but “use ‘the N-word’ in describing the president.”

Some media flacks have made this argument that opposing the Iran Deal was somehow racist. But this view wasn’t limited to a few Congressional Black Caucus members or a Washington Post hack. The racialization of any possible opposition to Obama had reached all the way up to the highest echelons of the Obama administration.

Susan Rice couldn’t take in Netanyahu’s criticism of a disastrous deal that even Obama admitted gives the terror state near zero breakout time to the bomb. She couldn’t even address it. Instead she went to the standby “You oppose an Obama policy, you must be racist.”

It’s an example of what a joke this administration is. No doubt Rice also thinks Putin is only bombing Syria because he’s racist or that China is building islands because it’s racist. It’s the whole “Because he’s a black man” theory of the administration in a nutshell. It can’t even address foreign policy without the same old politically correct nonsense.

The criticism comes from Dennis Ross, an Obama Middle East adviser, who blames Susan Rice for worsening tensions with Israel. Ross is of course a defender of the Iran Deal and his attack on Rice should be seen within the context of a larger split between Clinton and Obama people in which ex-administration Clinton loyalists like Panetta and Ross write memoirs whose real goal is to promote Hillary while critiquing Obama policies.

Dennis B. Ross, the former Middle East adviser to President Obama, faults Susan E. Rice, the president’s national security adviser, for exacerbating tensions with Israel during the talks that led up to the recent nuclear accord with Iran and quotes her casting the dispute in racial overtones.

In a new book on Israeli-American relations, Mr. Ross, who has worked on Middle East diplomacy for presidents of both parties, concludes that Ms. Rice’s “combative mind-set” worsened an already troubled relationship with Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who feared that negotiations would leave Iran a threshold nuclear state.

Rice is terrible at her job. It’s one reason Obama’s efforts to make her Secretary of State failed. Even Democrats in the Senate didn’t think she could handle it.

Ross however writes, “We damaged our relationship with Israel far more than we needed to.” It’s a very telling choice of words. “More than we needed to.”
