Remember the whole “Eyes on Rafah” campaign? Israel wanted to go into Rafah because they had intelligence that there were hostages there that could be rescued, and the U.S. shackled them and prevented the operation far longer than it should have been. Yeah, eventually Israel did go into Rafah, but after the U.S. held it back and only when the Biden admin relented somewhat (and giving Hamas time to move said hostages).
