UN Chief Condemns Killings of Arab Terrorist – No Mention of Israeli Terror Victims
Further evidence of the UN’s moral blindness.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon today expressed concern over the recent violence between Israelis and so-called “Palestinians”, condemning the killings of the latter but omitting any mention of the Israeli victims of Arab terror, reports the Jerusalem Post.
Ban said he is “profoundly alarmed by the growing number of deadly incidents in the West Bank, including east Jerusalem. The Secretary-General welcomes the commitment by Palestinian and Israeli officials to work together to curb the violence, including through continued security cooperation,” he added.
There, that should solve matters, because admonishing the “Palestinian” Arabs to curb their violence has always worked so well. Good work, UN.
Ban said he did not believe that the demolition of homes belonging to Palestinian terrorists or the construction of new Israeli settlements “will do anything other than inflame tensions still further.”
Yes, heaven forbid that we should inflame tensions by making terrorists pay for their actions.
Ban acknowledged the death of four Palestinians: a 13-year-old boy accidentally killed by misfire, and three terrorists killed by Israeli security forces following attacks that resulted in the murder of four Israelis.
In a statement, Ban said with typical that the “escalation of violent incidents underscores the need for urgent action by both sides,” but ultimately he charged Israel with investigating the incidents, and the Palestinian Authority with doing nothing:
“The Secretary-General condemns the killings and looks to the Government of Israel to conduct a prompt and transparent investigation into the incidents, including whether the use of force was proportional.”
Yes, heaven forbid that the force used to punish terrorists be disproportionate. After all, we don’t want to inflame tensions by aggravating the terrorists.
Missing from Ban’s statement was any mention of the four Israeli victims of Arab terrorist attacks in the last week: an Israeli couple shot dead in front of four of their children in Judea/Samaria Thursday, and two Jewish men murdered (and a mother and son wounded) in Jerusalem Saturday in a stabbing and shooting spree. No mention as well of any steps that the Palestinian Authority government should take to reduce violence. After all, suggesting that the PA should shoulder some of the responsibility for Arab terrorism would only inflame tensions. Better just to lay the burden on the Jews, as always.
Ban also called reports of hundreds of “Palestinians” injured in clashes with Israeli security forces “yet another worrisome sign of violence potentially spiraling out of control.” Thanks for all that helpful concern, Ban. Well done, United Nations. Give yourself a Nobel Peace Prize.
Don’t mention Ban Ki-moon, he is condemming the war in Syria for over 3 years now and the UN did nothing. Empty words from a weak leader that hasn’t had the guts to act when he was supposed to.
