What is this fixation with blacks and KFC?
WHY, and I want real answers please...is it that everytime someone mentions watermelon here, some idiot must say "ummmm hmmm"?
You DO know that blacks eat more foods than just fried chicken and watermelon, right?
I know "Oh, its only a joke, a stereotype...ha ha! funny! :D" but what you don't know is that this is one of the reasons why blacks don't like eating around white people. They're afraid that you're going to point them out and start mimicing them.
I looked up gefilte fish..big deal.. no stereotype there at all. No JEws looking longingly at a jar or anything. But nothing else but Jewish stereotypes that involve Jews looking evil. I wasn't interested in that at all.
WHY can't you just leave blacks alone with the stereotypes...you AND the kkk.

Newman, since you're not a black person, you don't seem to understand what that reference does to black people. I LOVE fried chicken and watermelon. I ate two slices of it yesterday. I have no problem with the food itself, its just people like you who demonize it as though only BLACKS eat it when everyone who can grow the fruit in their back yards or raise chickens dont' eat it.
I don't think we're too touchy about the subject but we are the only race with negative pictures that coinside with the stereotype. All YOU have is a jar of gefilte fish. No Wide-eyed Jewish old couple standing over it. I've heard the Chinese being called rice heads because they eat a lot of rice...but there is something incredibly insulting about altering pictures of black people to make it look as if they'd kill for what they're gauking at.

I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of a bunch of Jewish people gazing in a trance at a jar of gefilte fish or some matzo ball soup. I think it's all in good humor. But of course it would be stupid to do that because that's not how Jewish people behave. Blacks on the other hand, do show general traits for eating certain types of food that can't be ignored, and many of them have addictions to this type of food. Like with McDonalds, you can't deny that there are black people who are addicted to the stuff and who get an intense glaze over their eyes when looking at the food. There was a really fat black woman in one of my classes who always ate SOMETHING when she came to class and I swear I saw that look many times when she was staring at her burger or sandwich or whatever.
I know that Jews like to eat deli sandwiches, I wouldn't have a problem seeing a picture of some Jews looking entranced by a pastrami on rye or something, I think it would be funny.
As with anything that's funny, there's always a grain of truth involved.

I will teach our targeted customers things like how to recycle old pantyhose.
For example - Do you have old pantyhose? Do they have runs? No problems. Recycle and save the environment. Just cut the legs off one pair. Place leg over the hair at night to prevent lint and messes in the wonderful black hairstyles . For a second use - during the day it can be pulled down over the face to wear as a disguise in commision of a crimes. Maybe we can get a celebrity endorsement. ;)

When members of my family wanted to go on to further education- many years ago- they had to change the spelling of their last name. They knew they didn't have a shot with an Italian surname. They faced prejudice and stereotypes head on.
The problem is not that black people are stereotyped - that's a fact of life - the problem is that they don't move past it. They don't prove the stereotype wrong. They in fact by their actions perpetuate them.

What? I cook my own food. I'm not jealous of anything. Abstract to you is insulting someone because of food they eat. I don't do that. I eat everything, pretty much. I've even tried Matzo ball soup and thought it to be pretty interesting. But I find it funny that when I asked this question before, you all seemed to say in unison that it isn't evil food, then you describe blacks who like the food as people who behave differently from Jews who eat gefilte fish. All of a sudden, its evil for blacks to like a food that's eaten universally by everyone.

When I make fried chicken, my kids and husband aren't salivating and eating as if they've never had a meal before. What commercials are you speaking of specifically? Black women are on all kinds of commercials, none of them portray the black woman as an 'ape', but at the same token, none of the commercials i've seen portray the white man as a boob, stereotypically.

No one lives on fried chicken all of the time UNLESS that's all they can afford. But even then there are different ways to make chicken without frying it and different oils used to fry the chicken in. How many black people have you visited in your lifetime, newman? If you visited any, were the main courses always fried chicken, and dessert watermelon?

WHen he says "race pimp" he's talking about the likes of Sharpton and Jackson who intervene in any situation involving race in the United States and who come on TV and give interviews like they are the representatives of the black race. Whenever there is some racial issue involving blacks, Sharpton and Jackson are sure to be found and they profit from exploiting race and monopolizing the ability to talk about it. Like with the Don Imus issue, Imus met with Sharpton and his hoodlums and apologized to them like he is the "President of Black People" There is no similar person for white people who acts as a representative for white racial issues like affirmative action, black on white crime, the rape and murder of that white college couple by a group of black thugs, etc.

It's a real picture, you can't tell because it's so tiny but I've seen a big picture of it and it's legit. The reason why someone added the "I'm lovin' it" is because he has a McDonald's cup but the picture is too small to see it.

The best of the black community (Joe Clark, Allen Keyes, Carl Brasheer etc) are as good as the best of the white community. Unfortunately there are way too few of them in percentage terms. And while the liberals keep suckling that community on AA and victim culture there will continue to be too few.

Blacks don't eat healthy. I realize they eat at other places besides KFC. McDonald's and Popeyes are among their favorites, as well. Oh, and biscuts.
It's dangerous because blacks naturally have higher blood pressure than whites.
You do know sterotypes are developed from a majority don't you? Yes, there are different kinds of a single people, but a sterotype is developed based on what a large amount of those people do.
The black sterotype is very accurate, because it's extremely rare that you meet a black person and they don't like fast food or rap music.

Not necessarily true, genteel. Its all about moderation. If you eat a LOT of foods you can become fat..and it dosen't have to be fried chicken either. My children and my husband are all slim and whenever I cook fried chicken, they work it off immediately..and not by going to the bathroom. ::)If all you do is eat all day and all night, that's what makes you fat. Not consuming ONE hamburger, or ONE hotdog. Oh, and just so you know, watermelon isn't fatening. Its a fruit.

I don't think its sad. You see, Italians are said to be big consumers of pasta and other Italian cuisine and that's a good thing..blacks are said to be salivating over buckets of chicken and bushels of watermelon..which makes them/ us look like dogs in the eyes of those who think that our choice of foods are disgusting. Laughing at onesself is a great thing...I do it all of the time but not at the expense of white people who would pick out one physical flaw, or odd thing that they think that black people do to much of, or consume too much of because they're black.
I LOVE garlic as well though... I love minced garlic but I work with whole, fresh garlic as well. That dosen't make me an Italian wannabe, but it does make me a garlic lover. :)
