Arabs broke our locks and declared “This is ours”

Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu’s wife speaks about Arab encroachment of their Jewish Quarter apartment, explains why it is state’s oversight.

Rebbetzin Tova Eliyahu, wife of Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, the rabbi of the city of Safed, told Arutz Sheva about the Arab intrusion of the family’s home in the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem, which was undergoing renovations.

“I received a phone call in the morning that someone broke into our apartment. Four Arab thugs entered, broke a very heavy chain, and a large lock with a bolt that locked the ancient doors of the building, squatted there and announced that the structure belongs to them.

“Unfortunately, they had papers that ostensibly proved their ownership,” she says, “in effect a very serious State oversight in that they did not register that the property was purchased by the Jewish Quarter Development Company from whom we purchased the apartment.”

The Rebbetzin expected such things not to happen in a state of law, “Unfortunately, the police received the document from the company that proves that the property is mine and we are now suing the crooked Arab who offered this apartment for sale and even claimed to have akey to the apartment.

“We will not let this pass,” emphasizes Rebbetzin Eliyahu. “We will sue him in a civil suit and I expect the state to know how to protect its honest and good citizens who pay their bills and do everything honestly.”
