Cowardice: Jewish Organizations Urge University of Delaware Jews ‘Not To Engage’ Against Anti-Semites
JTF will never be silent!
In another sign of Jewish organizations remaining silent in the face of anti-Israel propaganda, University of Delaware Hillel, University of Delaware Chabad and the Jewish Federation of Delaware released a statement to the local Jewish community advising them “not to engage”, “remain level-headed” and “set an example.” When dealing with the upcoming anti-Israel week scheduled for the University of Delaware campus. The trio of organizations acknowledge:
Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter will be hosting an anti-Israel week on the University of Delaware Campus. This movement began in Toronto in 2005, has featured extreme anti-Israel rhetoric, including accusations of Israeli racism and apartheid, calls for a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel, and allegations that Israel is committing war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people.
Yet in response, the organizations lamely suggest: “We are asking students not to engage with the SJP group as we don’t believe it will be helpful. It is critical that members of the pro-Israel community set an example by staying level-headed and remaining calm. Instead we encourage you to join us and help educate yourself and your friends at any of these upcoming events:
March 19th at 6 pm – ” What can we learn from MLK and Rabbi Heschel?”
March 25th at 12 pm – Lunch-n-Learn on the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict
April 13th-17th – Holocaust Education Week
The pusillanimous response, which either satisfies multicultural devotees, those who would prefer spouting data to action, or those who somehow feel that if the world were more aware of the Holocaust, anti-Semitism would cease, does nothing to push back against the increasingly prevalent narrative at college campuses that demonizes and vilifies Israel.
