Cruz wins Texas, Oklahoma, Alaska in Super Tuesday primaries; Calls on Other Candidates to Unite Behind Him
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz called on the remaining GOP field to unite behind his candidacy to defeat front-runner Donald Trump after winning his home state and neighboring Oklahoma in the Super Tuesday primaries.
“Tomorrow morning, we have a choice,” Cruz told cheering supporters at the Redneck Country Club in Stafford, Texas. “So long as the field remains divided, Donald Trump’s path to the nomination remains more likely. And that would be a disaster for Republicans, for conservatives, and for the nation.”
Cruz said he is the only candidate who has shown he can beat Trump, having done so also in Iowa.
“We are the only campaign that has beaten Donald Trump once, twice, three times!” he said.
Cruz asked the candidates who have yet to win a state to “prayerfully consider” uniting.
“We welcome you on our team united as one,” he said. “That is the only way to beat Donald Trump. Our campaign beats Donald Trump resoundingly. For that to happen we must come together.”
He also urged voters in upcoming primaries to consider voting for him instead of the current candidates.
“In our nation’s darkest hours, FDR told us that we have nothing to fear but fear itself. JFK told us not to ask what our country could do for us but to ask what we could do for our country,” he said. “America shouldn’t have a president whose words would make you embarrassed if your children repeated them.”

Alaska too? So much for palin’s trump endorsement. They hate her over there too.
Under the overall circumstance of Super Tuesday, I’m glad that Ted Cruz won these 3 states. Winning Alaska, despite its small population, offers a little hope that Cruz can win in some states outside the South.
Three major concerns though:
1. Ted Cruz lost in many Southern States that seemed tailored made for him, including the previous loss in South Carolina and yesterday’s losses in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Arkansas.
2. Ted Cruz is behind in the polls in upcoming primary states, including Kansas, Kentucky, and Missouri, all states that would seem favorable for him.
3. Marco Rubio won Minnesota. It’s hard to imagine Rubio dropping out, especially with states more favorable to Rubio upcoming.
