Black and White Religious Jewish Rappers

This is one of the weirdest things I have seen in a while. In the middle of the song, the black guy starts rapping with pictures of Obama in the background and signs that read "victory."

I don't get it.  Were they saying that Obama will bring about the end of days or just glad that he won?I think that video can make a mockery of Judaism though.  It seems like blacks won't be happy until we're all stupid and dress like we're in a gang.

This Jew looks even with kippa and tallit like a mafia mobster.

The best part is imo with the bottle of wine. He hold it like he is on a black rapper party. Indeed he is.  :::D

At least very funny.

I think they were celebrating Obama because the black guy in the video has a link to the Democratic Party website on his blog. He converted to Judaism.

This is his blog: thisisbabylon.net

He also says on his blog that Jews and Muslims are natural allies.

I do agree... I actually like DeScribe and have been listening to it on my car stereo almost every day.  The song sounds pretty good. I think Im gonna rip a copy for my cd player...

I feel sorry for any Jew who lowers himself into Black ghetto mentality.  This includes rapping like them, talking like them, dressing like them, behaving like them, blasting their music like them, thinking like them, etc.

One thing you gotta admit... Music is a great way to become spiritual. I care about what the music says and how it sounds. I think this music is very moving and I enjoy the righteous hip hop because when it is done right it sounds incredible.

You must admit that all music has been an evolution of style. I like many styles of music and can't say that just because it originated in black culture it is bad. That is obviously a racist way of thinking and something I have been accused of because for so long there was no righteous sounding hip hop. Back in the 90s I was called racist because I said that I hated rap music. I still condemn with harsh tones any gangsta rap which glorifies crime, racism, and sexism. But one cant just say that everything is tainted because some people use music for evil. Music is not evil when it comes from a holy source.

Rock music was an evolution and so is hip hop. There is much room for improvement and I hope to enjoy more righteous music in the future.

PS: Ive been to over 40 Grateful Dead shows in my life and over 40 other shows from about 10 other rock bands. I love music and it is great when they make music which moves me spiritually.

The list of black musicians, singers, composers, lyricists, and instrumentalists goes on and on and on.  On my list are Art Tatum, Errol Garner, Oscar Peterson, Dionne Warwick, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Duke Ellington, Holland, Dozier & Holland, Thom Bell, Gamble & Huff, The Stylistics, well... you get the picture.  I happen to be a big fan of what's known as "Black Music".  This is precisely why I used the term "Black Ghetto Culture".  There is no evolution in rapping about [censored] and ho's.  This is de-evolution (if there's such a thing), and that's what I'm referring to.  I am not referring to the wonderful spirituals that are song in Black churches.  I'm referring to a specific Black ghetto/prison culture music that has no melody and that is childlike sing-song and repetitive in nature.  I can't believe that Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, John Coltrane, etc. etc. etc. would consider rap music to be a) either spiritual or b) any kind of evolution in music.  This is why I find it repulsive when Jews try to emulate this kind of "music" and "culture".  They're simply trying to "act Black" because they think it's "cool".  I find it repulsive.  But you don't -- and that's your right.

Heck yes. Everyone is entitled to like what inspires them.

I listen to the message and thats what I judge by. My musical tastes are diverse and I will not deny that there are some very good religious hip hop music. I have gone to Matisyahu shows and felt it in my heart.

Be honest.  Do you think T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" (recently the #1 Rap song in the country) is an evolution in music?  An evolution in lyric writing?  (Of course, if you're referring specifically to religious hip hop, then I'm wrong to suggest that you even think this song is good.)  Anyhow, here is the lyric.... and, people, compare this lyric to anything that, say, Ira Gershwin or Stephen Sondheim have written.  Jews imitating rappers have much better models to emulate, IMHO.

I said you can have whatever you like (you like)
I said you can have whatever you like (you like)
Yeah

[Chorus:]
Stacks on deck
Patron' on ice
And we can pop bottles all night
Baby you can have whatever you like (you like)
I said you can have whatever you like (you like)
Yeah
Late night sex so wet you're so tight
I'll gas up the jet for you tonight
Baby you can go where ever you like (you like)
I said you can go where ever you like (you like)
Yeah

[Verse 1:]
Anytime you want to pick up the telephone
You know it ain't nothin to drop a couple stacks on you
Wanted you could get it my dear
Five million dollar home, drop Bentley's I swear
Yeah I want'cho body, I need yo body
Long as you got me you won't need nobody
if you want it I got it, go get it I buy it
Tell 'em other broke [censored] be quiet

[Chorus:]
Stacks on deck
Patron' on ice
And we can pop bottles all night
Baby you can have whatever you like (you like)
I said you can have whatever you like (you like)
Yeah
Late night sex so wet you're so tight
I'll gas up the jet for you tonight
Baby you can go where ever you like (you like)
I said you can go where ever you like (you like)
Yeah

[Verse 2:]
Shawty you da hottest love the way you drop it
Brain so good swore you went to college
Hundred cant deposit, vacations hit the tropics
Cause everybody know it ain't trickin if ya got it
and you ain't never ever gotta go in yo wallet
Long as I got rubberband banks in my pocket
Five six, rides with rims and a body kit
Ya ain't gotta downgrade you can get what I get
My chick can have what she want
And go in any store for any bag she want
And know she ain't never had a man like that
To buy you anything ya heart desire like that
Yeah I want'cho body, I need yo body
Long as you got me you won't need nobody
You want it I got it, go get it I buy it
Tell 'em other broke [censored] be quiet

[Chorus:]
Stacks on deck
Patron' on ice

Late night sex so wet you're so tight
I'll gas up the jet for you tonight
Baby you can go where ever you like (you like)
I said you can go where ever you like (you like)
Yeah

[Verse 3:]
I'm talkin' big boy rides
And big boy ice
Let me put this big boy in yo life
The thang get so wet, it hit so right
Let me put this big boy in yo life
That's right
Yeah I want'cho body, I need yo body
Long as you got me you won't need nobody
You want it I got it, go get it I buy it
Tell 'em other broke [censored] be quiet

[Chorus:]
Stacks on deck

IsraelForever,

So you pick a song which has bad lyrics. That is unfortunate. I never said that there was not crap music out there. I dont care what song is 'popular'.

I will quote you from "Jewdah Maccabee"

IRON LIKE A LION - Jew Dah Maccabee

Iron like a lion
Iron like a lion
Iron like a lion
Stop wait, I need to elevate
I was formed like a rock but this water penetrate
Its time to meditate like a musical soul Im tryin to get a hold but my minds in control
And my soul be attached like umbillical cord to the L-rd Hashem Elokim theres ONE G-d
So remove the shade of your infinite light show us sight and light up the darkest of nights
Cause Im an Israelite who's sworn before birth to be righteous not evil so for all that Im worth
I thank G-d I was blessed and not cursed
Without water man Im dying of thirst
So I look up the heaven
And he will stop our cryin
Believe in Moshiach
And return us to Zion
Cause Im Iron like a lion in Zion!
La La, La La, La La
Iron like a lion!
I had a dream I was standing at Mount Sinai stone
I was blinded by the light which came off from his throne
And then the sky opened up like a dome
Hashem was shone upon them my soul was thrown
In the beginning when my soul was blown
Im the original not talking no clone
Im a man made of flesh and bone still listen to commandments which are written in stone
Nothing is strange, its not been changed or rearranged
Written on the same page different time on the same stage
Numbered in days but they say its a phase
They say Im looking for myself, What? you think its a maze?
Yeah its a new age, I wish you stuck with your text
We're generation of Moshiach, Why you calling us X?
Yeah its a new age, I wish you stuck with your text
We're generation of Moshiach, Why you calling us X?
Iron!
My souls a compartment my body is Egypt and my heart be the tyrannt
Were sitting here silent when we got an assignment
Open up the Torah and read all the fine print
We find it spiritually in the balance physically and legally to be free
to practice what we need to be
Then I see the way we can break these chains
If we change the things we perceive to be vain
By clinging to the mighty name, blessed be he
And Im blessed to see how its best to be
Cause Im a vessel of light
Speaking close to the mike
I promise to the man so I stand up and fight
Cause even if I die trying Im not scared
Like the spies telling me that we're dealing with giants
And we'll be Iron, Like a Lion, In Zion!
You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

Listen, consider me "Out Of Touch", and let's leave it at that.  I have no quarrel with the message.  My quarrel is with how the message is delivered.  Since when have Jews turned into Jamaicans, singing in a Reggae style and moving like rappers from the South Bronx or East New York?  It's obvious that, for some strange and unknown reason to me, they're simply imitating black ghetto rappers while adding a Jamaican-style Reggae flavor to the music.  I look at them as "poseurs", as it were.   It's almost like a parody or take-off.  It could even be construed as a mocking of certain black culture.

But, seriously, if you enjoy it and find pleasure in it, then more power to you.  I'll admit to being out of touch.

You know what this reminds me of?  This reminds me of young white singers who, when they sing, try to produce the same sound that Blacks produce.  I consider it a phoney-baloney way of singing.  It's not singing, per se; it's imitating.  "County" singers, who are white, don't do this.  And, again, there's nothing wrong with trying to imitate Black people.  If that flips your switch, then G-d bless you.  But I think I see it for what it is.

Okay but besides being religious and following the Torah, is their that much of a difference between following "black" culture and following "white" culture. I'm not saying im a wigger or a thugg or anything like that but why would I look at a Jew who dresses and acts black any different then one who acts white (or has metalist style, or clubhead style, or rock, etc.)

Black culture is inherently degenerate. They invented nothing but dung huts, AIDs, pointy spears, and jenkem,  (well the last might be a myth). White culture even though it has at times had some bad aspects to it, is so much better. White people built beautiful cities, composed beautiful music, and whites invented just about everything. Even the stuff the Arabs falsely take credit for like algebra was developed by white Greeks, not Arabs. The worst thing about white culture right now is their suicidal tendency to let other races and cultures take over their lands and supplant them.

And there have been quite a few innovations by black musicians which have been learned from by White musicians. You cannot deny this fact. Rock and Roll music was an evolution from R&B music. The black musicians have contributed more than you would be willing to admit to Americas musical heritage. I am one who gives credit where it is due. Those blinded by hatred are denying themselves a lot of wonderful music.

RS, what makes black culture 'inherently' degenerate? That is a new one...

Quote
http://www.chiefrabbi.org/thoughts/mishpatim5768.html
Whatever the precise number, the repetition throughout the Mosaic books is remarkable. Sometimes the stranger is mentioned along with the poor; at others, with the widow and orphan. On several occasions the Torah specifies: "You shall have the same law for the stranger as for the native-born." Not only must the stranger not be wronged; he or she must be included in the positive welfare provisions of Israelite/Jewish society. But the law goes beyond this: the stranger must be loved:

When a stranger lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The stranger living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were strangers in Egypt. I am the LORD your G-d.

This provision appears in the same chapter in Vayikra as the command, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself." Later, in the book of Devarim, Moses makes it clear that this is the attribute of G-d himself:

For the LORD your G-d is G-d of gods and Lord of lords, the great G-d, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing. And you are to love those who are strangers, for you yourselves were strangers in Egypt.
