Title: What do you do for a living?
Post by: HiWarp on August 11, 2007, 05:23:20 PM
I'm just curious to know what the forum members do for a buck.  I would also like to know if you are content with the career you've chosen or if you'd rather be doing something else.  For anyone who is a student, you can include what you are, or plan on, studying.

I am an IT networking professional.  That's a fancy way of saying computer geek.

I'd rather be flying for a living. :(

Computers are the future, you'll probably even figure out how to fly with a machine. :)

I don't have a clue what i plan on studying. I went on work experience to Parliament not long ago, and all they did in the office was help illegal immigrants stay in Britain, but the place was really great and the debates at the House of Commons, held some strong-hold. It didn't look like a place you could run a country from.......

What i would like to study...either:
*Physics
* History
*Philosophy
*Media-Journalism
....and plenty of other things.  ;D I need a rock to fall out of the sky, and wake me up to reality.

I'm an administrator for a security company.  If I could choose something different, I would LOVE to be one of those CSI guys...but I dont think that me passing out at crime scenes from the sight of blood would help solve the crime so I'll stick with what i do:P

If a man has divorced his wife three times she may not remarry him, until she has married another man, and consummated that marriage, then divorced the other man.

It's in Sahih Bukhari  , just googled it. Think I may look through the hadiths and find the exact wording of it all. A Coptic Christian lady and I used too joke about it on paltalk. I would text " I divorce you 3 times." and she would say, I like the muhalil better than you anyway.

:(

I went to college for Law Enforcement and planned on getting into Police work but my son is very disabled so sending him off to daycare isn't an option and as a divorced mom not working isn't an option. As a result I became a Nanny which is a job I have fine with. I have in the past worked as a waitress(which I loved),daycare center assistant and a certified infant sign language instructor( another job I loved).

That rock will eventually fall.  It's called "recurring monthly bills" and can be pretty large and heavy. :)

As a single(divorced) mom I have to say GO FOR IT. You certainly shouldn't let her having something as wonderful as a child stand in the way. Just my two cents!

The only part that would give me pause is if the ex wife were in the picture. In my situation the Ex husband is completely out of the picture in every way so that makes it easier when I date but if I were to say meet someone who had shared custody of their kids I don't know that I would want that much to do with the dreaded ex wife.
I don't know ItalianZionist's situation but it's something to think about.

Ever see those surveys asking people if they like their jobs ?

In almost every survey 90% of the respondants say yes, they like their jobs.

I used to always wonder who the heck these people are.

I've had many jobs and can honestly say I didn't like any of them, just disliked some less than others !

I've worked in gorcery stores. I've installed carpet and flooring. I've driven a cab.

I spent several years working as a programmer for Chemical Bank. I worked in the Systems Programming department for North American Philips.

The majority of my career I worked for the phone company (AT&T) in a variety of capacities and disliked almost every moment.

That might explain why I took a buy out from them and retired at the ripe old age of 44.

Since then I've been a professional gambler.

Yeah, I know most of the people here think gambling is evil and that gamblers lead a life of vice.

And for the most part they're right.

But the truth is that the successful professionals, for the most part, avoid the vices commonly associated with gaming and are honorable, moral people.

Hard to believe, but true.

It's wierd. I thought he was a nice guy.

Graphics art is what I do for comics.  But I want my skill to be something for the one group of people I care a lot about,  children.   So, I was thinking if have enough money (eventually) I want to open an art studio for children with physical disabilities, (wheelchair, speech, hearing, mental retardation) on Saturdays so they can come on their own free will for 4, 5 hours the day draw, paint, create anything they like.  It sure would beat them sitting at home all day doing nothing else.

I don't care if someone calls me names,  this is something I feel that one day I want to give back to those who are less fortunate.   Especially with kids who have that are disabled they really do not get the same enjoyment as normal kids and they got skills that are out of this world.

Very good master wolf. You are a truly rightious man.

Nah, just feel that as we get older we must give something for the next generation after us somethig for them.   I wish we can give them a real education in the schools instead of this crap brainwash that the communist school system teaches them.

Newman will tell you that you're an exception, because he likes you.

The fact of the matter is, however that Newman has said a great deal of crap about artists, musicians, etc.

I'm a ninja spy but I can't say anything else... let's just say I train in a cage covered in razor blades.
It must be getting late for me at first I thought that ninja was another word ;D

I'm almost afraid to ask... LOL

Ya... I used to train in the razor cage underwater... but they kicked me out of the public pool because it scared the kids.
If the public pools are anything like the ones here in New York they should have kicked the kids out and left you train ;D

Resurrecting this Post. Would like to see what currently active members are doing.

I am a vice president for a software company headquartered in Atlanta. I am responsible for all operational, implementaion and support resources globally.  I have been involved in software developement for the last 16 years mostly in the CallCenter market. I have been part of 2 startups one of which went public and was extremely successful. It was bought by an Israeli company a couple of years ago. This has allowed me to persue the interests and jobs that I want to versus had to.

My wife is a physical therapist specializeing in pediactric rehab and early intervention. We just built a 10,000 suare foot aquatic rehab center in the town where we live.

God has truly blessed me with a great life and family. I am a board member, trustee and head of the security team at my church and I try to visit Israel every year.

Rest of my time is spent on JTF. :)

I'm still doing the ninja thing with the underwater cages covered in razor blades but now I've combined it with ballet. It's very beautiful and scary at the same time.
