Huffpo is spreading a rumor based on two anonymous sources that Trump and his team have discussed the gay Paypal founder as a possible nominee for the Supreme Court. This is the same guy Trump put on stage on his big night at the convention, the same guy who wants transgenders to use whatever bathroom they choose:

HUFFPO – Donald Trump has made it clear he will nominate Peter Thiel to the Supreme Court if he wins the presidency, Thiel has told friends, according to a source close to the PayPal co-founder.

Trump “deeply loves Peter Thiel,” and people in the real estate mogul’s inner circle are talking about Thiel as a Supreme Court nominee, a separate source close to Trump told The Huffington Post. That source, who has not spoken to Trump directly about Thiel being nominated to the Court, cautioned that Trump’s offers often fail to materialize in real life.

It’s not clear whether Trump has indeed offered to nominate Thiel ― only that Thiel has said Trump would nominate him and that Trump’s team has discussed Thiel as a possible nominee. Both sources requested anonymity, given that Trump and Thiel have each demonstrated a willingness to seek revenge against parties they feel have wronged them. In Thiel’s case, he secretly financed lawsuits against Gawker.com with the intention of destroying the publication. He succeeded, and his role in the assault was only revealed in the final stages.

Trump’s press secretary, Hope Hicks, denied that Thiel had been offered a seat on the Supreme Court or that the campaign was discussing the idea. “There is absolutely no truth to this whatsoever,” she told HuffPost.

“Peter hasn’t had any conversations about a Supreme Court nomination and has no interest in the job,” said Thiel spokesman Jeremiah Hall.

A few things you have to consider in deciding whether you believe this or not:

1. Huffpo hates The Donald. It’s entirely possible they are trying to destroy Trump’s credibility with people who are only voting for him because of the Supreme Court, in order to peel away votes and help Hillary.
2. The anonymous sources seem pretty weak. One source has never even spoken to Trump about this and the other source appears to be quoting the friends of Thiel as his source.
3. Trump did put Peter Thiel on stage on his big night of the convention, where he proudly and loudly proclaimed he was gay and that transgenders should choose and use whatever bathroom they want.
4. Both spokespersons for Trump and Thiel have categorically denied this.

It’s easy in this election to believe something like this because Trump has flip flopped on so many things. And we know he’s definitely a liberal when it comes to social issues, which is what Thiel is all about.

I’d say at this point the rumor has the potential of being true, but I’m not totally convinced yet considering the weaknesses of the story and Huffpo’s hatred for Trump.
